Fun! 29 books/stories this month

Just got back from camp so got to do a lot of reading. I decided to play a little catchup on my tbr pile and read the two Sydney Croft books that have been on my shelf for about two years now. Regretting not reading them earlier, I really enjoyed them.
I read a lot of great books this month and most of the ones that are A's I expected to be great. Come on, I mean I had the newest Psy-Changeling book, the newest JD Robb, Karen Rose and Ilona Andrews, all awesome authors and great series. My most unexpected enjoyment though, was probably Northern Exposure by Jayne Rylan and Mari Carr. The second book comes out in a couple of months and it is going on my tbb list now.

Only 12 books this month, but I may have forgotten some, did not keep this list updated well. But school is almost out, yay. I was cut because of budget cuts again, so am back looking for another teaching position. I had a lot of fun this year and learned a lot though so am glad that I had this position. It should also be easier to get a job with more experience. I taught music for 4 years but an also certified in math, but it is hard to get a math job with no math teaching experience. So after this year I actually have that so hopefully that will help with finding another job. Wish me luck. :)
On a more fun note, I got a $50 Kindle giftcard and went crazy shopping, so much fun, bought lots!

19 reads this month :) yay!
Some great reads this month. Hard to pick my favorite, probably either Mesmerized, The Perfect Play or The Reluctant Dom. I love stories that make me cry and The Reluctant Dom made me cry repeatedly. "Seeing" a strong man cry always makes me cry. Mesmerized was a good addition to the series, I enjoyed watching Adrian find his girl. I need to re-read that one because I am not sure if I loved it because of the anticipation of reading it or because I really liked it. I had to read The Perfect Play because of the cover, I am such a cover slut ;) Luckily it was also a great story. Totally recommend that one.

Snow

1/01/2011 06:10:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (2)

Well, I grew up in FL and have lived here my whole life. As such I have not seen snow since I was about 6 years old. My children have also not seen snow so Hubby and I decided to take a trip after Christmas to see snow. We travelled to Chatanooga, TN and then over to Pigeon Forge, TN to see and play in snow. We had such a great time.

We drove out to Smokey Mountain National Park and drove out to Cade's Cove. The drive out there was beautiful. There were a lot of ice warnings out which made me nervous and so glad that i was not driving, but Hubby did just fine. The only time we had a real issue was when someone on the two lane river road decided to stop in the middle of the road and take pictures instead of pulling off at one of the designated pull off areas. Once we stopped we got stuck on ice and spun for a bit until the wheels caught.

It is a 24 mile drive along the river road to get to Cade's Cove (which is a dri
ving tour of 11 miles through the forest). The drive was gorgeous and I took lots of pics but will not inundate you with those.

When we got to Cade's Cove, the trail was closed to traffic because of the snow and ice. but there was a nice area you could get out and play and you could walk a ways down the trail if you were so inclined. So we made our first snowman (the girls and mine), I think we did a good job :)

Pigeon Forge was fun to go to, but a major tourist trap. Our opinion was that it was worse than Orlando and that is pretty bad. There is nothing wrong with it but with the back drop of the
beautiful mountains, it just made everything seem so fake. We want to go back and do the trip again in the summer and also in the fall when the leaves change.
Hope everyone else had a great vacation too!
