A Time to Die

A Time To Die
A Time to Die by Beverly Barton
Ten years ago, Black Ops commando Deke Bronson's bullet left up-and-coming journalist Lexie Murrough paralyzed. It's taken years of painful physical therapy to bring Lexie back from the brink. And Deke is just grateful that she has no memory of his part in the incident that left her injured and him emotionally scarred. He's tried to put the past behind him, leaving the military and joining the Dundee Agency, but he's never been able to forgive himself.…
When Lexie, now head of an international charity organization, begins receiving terrifying threats from the son of the dictator killed during that long-ago operation, it's Deke who's assigned to keep her safe from harm.
Maybe it's fate's way of giving him another chance, but falling for Lexie isn't supposed to be part of the deal. And what if she finally discovers the truth?

This book was pretty good. Not awesome like some of her others but pretty good. There were lots of things that i liked about it, nothing that I hated, but nothing that I absolutely loved either. I liked that I did not know who the bad guy was (had an inkling but was not sure) . I liked that there was some angst with Deke and his feelings (but not whiny) for shooting Lexie but he did not dwell over it too much. He got over it to get the girl. Steamy, but not as hot as some of her other books. All around decent book, but nothing I am jumping up and down and saying "go buy this book".

Strong and Sexy

12/28/2007 01:02:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (2)

Well, i went to the doctor yesterday and today. For a sonogram of the baby and about the lump in my breast. The baby is doing great. I got to see (him/her) and (he/she) was wiggling all over the place. And I got to see the little heartbeat and everything. So cute. The doctors think the lump in my breast is a benign tumor of some sort. I have to make another appointment with a general surgeon to find out what he thinks we should do about it (biopsy, remove now or wait until after the baby is born). But that is my news for the week. I have to go clean my house now while a friend is watching my kids.

Strong and SexyStrong and Sexy by Jill Shalvis
n a family of serious over-achievers, Shayne Mahoney has always been the laid-back, easy-going rebel. But running Sky High Air—a charter airline catering to the rich and famous—is a dream come true, in-flight specials included. Like kissing his client’s beautiful, brainy daughter in a coat closet. But before Shayne can say “Fasten Your Seatbelts,” Dani claims to witness a murder, gets stalked in her own apartment, and as added bonus, gets them both shot at by a mystery sniper. Normally Shayne would be running from the obviously crazy woman, and yet he finds himself trying to help her, leaving him to doubt his own sanity…
There’s a reason Dani never attends her mother’s high society parties. The fake people, the shallow conversation—and the fact that she doesn’t fit in. She’s a zoologist, not a starlet, and happy about it, even if she wishes men like ruggedly handsome Shayne Mahoney would spare her a second glance. Of course, dodging bullets isn’t exactly what she’d call the perfect follow-up to their heated kiss, but Shayne makes it clear she can depend on him. All she has to do is hold on tight to his delicious hard body until the ride is over…

This is the second book in a trilogy. The first book is Smart and Sexy. Each book of the trilogy features a pilot who flies private planes for Sky High Airlines. This book was fun to read. It was a nice change from the books that I had been reading lately. I still cannot wait for the next book, Superb and Sexy, the long awaited story of Brody and Maddie.

Menage a Magick and When Wizards Rule

12/26/2007 01:22:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (2)

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas. I did, I got an IPOD, I am so excited. my hubby has had one for a while but he bought me one for Christmas. I also got a bunch of maternity clothes, some new movies and a Borders giftcard, so I did really good. My family had a good time except for my hubby, he was so sick and still is but still had to go to work. I have my first sonagram on Friday so Keep me in your prayers please. After a normal sonagram the doctor says that my chances for a miscarriage goes down to like 9%. I had a miscarriage about two years ago so that is a worry.
Well, here are a couple of books that i am just getting around to posting about.

Menage a Magick (Wizard Twins, Book 1) Menage A Magick (Wizard Twins Book 1) by Lora Leigh
She was to be the filling in a Wizard Sandwich. For a millennia, the Covenani Sorceresses of planet Sentmar have been separated from the Cauldaran Wizards, their natural mates. Deceit and blood have forced a reunion; destiny and passion have forced a bond. Brianna, youngest of the Princesses of Covenani, will be a consort to two handsome, virile Wizards. Will the union be forged in desire and love, or will she deny the union, as well as the two men who are bound to her, hearts and souls?

Well, this was one of the books that I read when I was offline and I got the second one last week, so I figured I would post about both. This one was a good beginning to the series (I think a trilogy). It is not very long. I found it at my ubs. It was decent but either i am getting really tired of menage or I did not like this book as much as some of her others.

When Wizards Rule (Wizard Twins, Book 2)
When Wizards Rule (Wizard Twins Book 2) by Lora Leigh
Desperate to avoid a Joining with the wickedly handsome Sashtain Twins, Marina escapes them at every turn. Relentless, they plague her days and torment her dreams-wickedly erotic dreams that make her body pulse with the promise of dark desires revealed and a sexual heat that will send her up in flames. But when the hated Seculars gain in strength and dark magic weaves an insidious, invisible threat to all she holds dear, she discovers there is more to be gained by aligning her magick with the Sashtain Wizards than she thought. Caise and Kai'el Sashtain, focused solely on convincing the innocent young Sorceress to bond with them, get a lot more than they anticipated. Marina unknowingly weaves her magick spell on them-a sensual spell that pulls them into a vortex of churning emotions, forcing them to decisions that could alter all their lives. Dark magick is terrorizing the land, no one is safe, all become suspect, and trusting her Wizards with her heart, body and soul is a lesson Marina has to learn before all is lost.

Okay, gotta say this cover looks much better than the cover that is on mine. Well, the storyline was a little better with this one (it helped that it was much longer) but the relationship in this one was same story second verse from the first book.

Down Home Zombie Blues

The Down Home Zombie Blues
Down Home Zombie Blues by Linnea Sinclair
In this steamy, suspenseful new novel from RITA Award–winning author Linnea Sinclair, a dangerously sexy space commander and an irresistibly earthy Florida police detective pair up to save the civilized galaxy . . . but can they save themselves from each other?
Bahia Vista homicide detective Theo Petrakos thought he’d seen it all. Then a mummified corpse and a room full of futuristic hardware sends Guardian Force commander Jorie Mikkalah into his life. Before the night’s through, he’s become her unofficial partner—and official prisoner—in a race to save the earth. And that’s only the start of his troubles. Jorie’s mission is to stop a deadly infestation of biomechanical organisms from using Earth as its breeding ground. If she succeeds, she could save a world and win a captaincy. But she’ll need Theo’s help, even if their unlikely partnership does threaten to set off an intergalactic incident. Because if she fails, she’ll lose not just a planet and a promotion, but a man who’s become far more important to her than she cares to admit.

I just finished this today as I am stuck in my bed with morning sickness. It has passed for the moment so I am leaving in a moment to run some errands while I have a break. But I wanted to start this post so I would not forget about it. This was a long book. If you adore sci-fi then you will probably love this book. I like sci-fi but for me it dragged. The storyline was good, but it seemed to take a long tome for anything to happen. This was not a bad book but I like some of her others much better. It could be my own preferences because when it comes to sci-fi I prefer futuristic, not aliens come to present-day Earth.

Anyway, I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and I will see you after the holiday.

Brazen
Brazen by Maya Banks
One womans campaign to win the hearts of the two men she loves. Jasmine left the Sweetwater Ranch and the Morgan brothers, no longer able to bear the painful dilemma of loving them both. After a year away, in which she gains new perspective, she returns home with one goal. To make Seth and Zane Morgan hers. Jaz may have left an innocent girl, but she's returned a beautiful, sensual woman. Seth and Zane aren't prepared for the full on assault she launches and each battle an attraction they've fought for years. She wants them both, but Seth has no intention of sharing his woman. It's up to her to change his mind because she can't and won't choose between two men she loves with equal passion. For her, it's all or nothing.

I bought this e-book the other day and read it yesterday, in one sitting. Very good. It is a nice change of pace for menage stories. Usually it is two guys looking for a third but this one was a girl trying to form a menage with her two guys of choice. It was a good story, not all sex, good storyline, kept me interested.

Vampire Academy

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, Book 1)Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy Book 1) by Rachelle Mead
St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger. . . . Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

I have had this from the library for a while just got to reading it. I enjoyed it. I don't think I loved it as much as Stephanie Meyer's series, but I thought it was good.

Sexy Devil

Sexy Devil Sexy Devil by Sasha White

"The Devil Inside"
Workaholic Caleb Mann used to think blind dates were a waste of time, but when his ex-girlfriend calls him boring in bed, Caleb becomes bent on changing his image fast - with the help of the incredibly sexy woman standing in front of him. He barely knows his date's name, but her sassy mouth is almost hypnotizing, in more ways than one, and he can't stop fantasizing about replacing the sleek motorcycle between her firm thighs and letting her ride him all night long...

"Devil's Jewel" Ex-soldier and psychic hunter Angelo Devlin has seen evil first-hand. He knows how perilous his assignments can be, and he doesn't welcome outside help, which makes his run-in with Jewel Kattalis all the more infuriating. But instead of sending her away, he wants to grab her, take her, and tease every inch of her beautiful body. This woman may be more dangerous than any mission he's ever been on before...

I LOVE this cover. It is a little much in that I cannot read it in front of my kids but in private, I love this cover. The stories were really good as well. The heroine in the first story and the hero in the second story are brother and sister. They both come from a family loaded with psychic abilities. They are also a nice combination of stories. The first story is more of your straight contemp story with some psychic ability thrown in. The second has a little action and fighting in it for a nice change of pace. There is also a bonus story in it at the end. It ties up a loose end of a character who is briefly introduced in the first story. Very good book.

Jacob's Faith

Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds, Book 2)
Jacob's Faith (Wolf Breeds book 2) by Lora Leigh
They are a new breed, a new race. Engineered rather than born, trained rather than raised, and their unique genetics have created more than one surprise...
Jacob left Faith six years before, unaware that the mark he left on her also left her in an agony of sexual heat that never dimmed. Now Jacob and Faith are together again, but surprises lurk around every corner and dangers as dark and deadly as their very creation surround them in more ways than one.

I finally got to read this. I know that there is another one before it, but I got this one used so I was not going to complain. I kind of reminds me of Kiss of Heat though with him leaving her for 6 years and stuff. Not my favorite of the series, but I love the Breeds.

lots of books and Love Me Still

12/19/2007 07:54:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (3)

I went a little crazy (well at least for me) and bought a bunch of books this week. I went to my ubs and bought
Sexy Devil by Sasha White
When Wizards Rule by Lora Leigh
Tanner's Scheme by Lora Leigh (already read but did not own)

Then I went online and bought three e-books from Samhain
Brazen by Maya Banks
Hara's Legacy by Bianca D'Arc
Love Me Still by Maya Banks

I went ahead and read Love Me Still because it is a short story. It is only 56 pages but it was a good story. It is in print in an anthology called The Perfect Gift. The story and the others in the anthology are on sale right now for the holidays for $2.25 and I really love her writing so I grabbed it.

Love Me, Still Love Me Still by Maya Banks

Forgiveness is the most difficult thing to give but the most cherished thing to receive.

A story from The Perfect Gift

Beloved mate to two wolves, Heather lived an idyllic life until hunters destroyed the pack’s peaceful existence.

Believing their mate betrayed them and was responsible for their father’s death, Cael and Riyu cut Heather from their lives. But when they realize their terrible mistake, can they ever gain her forgiveness and win back her love?

This was a very nice story. There are no sex scenes in the story, but there is a committed menage relationship and is a story about forgiveness. Heather's mates are shape shifters and she is a human living with their pack as their mate. The men's father is murdered and his last words are about Heather's betrayal. So when she shows up they cast her off. She all the while declaring her innocence. I really enjoyed it and thought it was well written.

Dragon Heat and Black Dragon

12/18/2007 06:51:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (0)

Well sorry it has been a while, this week has been insane and it is spreading into the week as well. I have my first prego check up on Friday. Zeek is having a contest on her page giving away some cool books, stop on by. I have other books I want to write about but have not had time to post them yet, hopefully soon. But here are two that I just finished that I really enjoyed. These two books are best read in order.

Dragon Heat (Dragon Series, Book 1) Dragon Heat (Dragon series book 1) by Allyson James
Lisa Singleton has an unusual roommate-a fifty-foot dragon named Caleb who has glittering scales and a bad attitude. Little does she know that Caleb is actually a powerful warrior sent to protect her from those out to steal her magic and destroy the world. Or that Caleb can take the human form of a sexy hunk. Now, if he doesn't stop distracting her with those gorgeous bedroom eyes, they may not have time to stop their enemies before all of existence is wiped out. At least Lisa and Caleb will have savored every last minute.

The Black Dragon (Dragon Series, Book 2) The Black Dragon (Dragon series book 2) by Allyson James
When Saba Watanabe is attacked by white dragons in human form on the streets of San Francisco, the only man she can turn to for help is the dangerously seductive Malcolm, a black dragon who once made Saba his love slave. But it's Saba who must use her rising powers to save Malcolm-and all of his kind.

I really liked both books. But probably I liked the second one more, I think it is the whole bad boy thing. Because in the first book he is the "bad guy" and in the second he is the hero. I love books like that. The first book is a nice story but I liked the storyline of the second one better and you are building relationships with the characters because they all appear in the first book and then again in the second. But very good books.

Stuff

12/13/2007 12:34:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (7)

Well, I went to the doctor today and he confirmed that i am pregnant!! I do not know if I can do this again but I guess God knows best. No, we were not trying, it was a surprise. We have not told the other two yet we are waiting until I get further along.
I also got a good confirmation. I have a pain in my breast that I have had for about 14 years. The doctors all said that it was a "tenderness" or that it was related to my pregnancy or it was related to my menstral cycle. Over the years it has gotten worse though and I asked to doctor (different doctor) about it again today and he did a breast exam on me and found the spot and said it felt like a cyst. I can feel it when I do my exams but I know what and where I am looking. So he is going to talk with my OB/GYN when i go to them about what my options are. Finally.
Honestly why I have had it so long is my own fault. One, i hate going to the doctor so I never make appointments (unless pregnant) and two, I am timid enough not to fight or argue with the doctor.
On a more distressing note, the doctor did say that he wanted me to completely cut out caffeine, including chocolate!!!!!!!! I do not know if I can handle that. My hubby said that maybe we can work out a rationing of the chocolate, like one a week, but I do not think that is going to cut it. this is going to be a long pregnancy.

Update: If you want a too funny Christmas song go read this.
Another addition: A friend emailed this video to me and I do not know how to put it on my blog but i will give you the link, it is hilarious.

The Faerie Path and The Lost Queen

12/11/2007 07:37:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (1)

The Faerie PathThe Faerie Path (Book 1 of the Faerie Path) by Frewin Jones

Swept away into a court of magic and beauty, she discovers she is Tania, the lost princess of Faerie: the youngest daughter of Oberon and Titania. Since Tania's mysterious disappearance on the eve of her wedding five hundred years before, Faerie has been sunk in darkness and gloom. The courtly Lord Gabriel Drake, who Tania was once to marry, has found her and brought her back.
With Tania's return, Faerie comes alive again as a land of winged children, glittering balls, and fantastic delights. But Tania can't forget Anita's world, or the boy she loved there.
Torn between two loves and between two worlds, Tania slowly comes to discover why she disappeared so long ago. She possesses a singular magical ability and she must use it to stop a sinister plan that threatens the entire world of Faerie.

I read this book while I was on internet hiatus and really enjoyed it. It was a cool story and I was anxious for the second book. Which I got this week and already read. The story has some romance in it but that is not the primary focus of the story. The main focus is her goal to try to understand what happened to her and accept that she is actually a faerie princess for real and that Faerie does exist and it needs her help.
It is not anything deep or dark but an light interesting story.

The Lost Queen: Book Two of The Faerie PathThe Lost Queen (Book 2 of the Faerie Path) by Frewin Jones

Tania is a princess of Faerie.
And now she must return to the Mortal World.
Once upon a time, Tania was an ordinary girl. But then she was swept into another world, where she was the long-lost princess of the elegant and magical court of Faerie, and only she could save the court from great peril.
Now Tania—and her true love, Edric—will go back to the Mortal Realm to seek Queen Titania, lost hundreds of years ago while searching for Tania.
Their return leads to struggles with Tania's much-loved mortal parents and friends as she and Edric try to conceal their secret. But much more serious dangers lurk: The sinister Lord Drake is not yet defeated, they are pursued by dark supernatural forces, and Tania's two worlds are about to collide in amazing and frightening ways she never could have anticipated.

This was a quick read (the book is thick but the print is pretty large) but definitely the second in the trilogy. You know, the book that is the transition book. Some stuff happens that needs to happen to finish the story, but it is really killing time until you get the third book and the climax. There was no real climax in the book unless you count the very end (like the last page).
Book 3, The Sorcerer King comes out in hardback the end of January.

Heart Dance

12/10/2007 06:07:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (1)

Heart Dance (Celta's HeartMates, Book 6) Heart Dance by Robin D. Owens

DuFleur Thyme is a scientist who's secretly experimenting with time. She'll allow no distractions from her work-not even from a HeartMate. Meanwhile, Saille T'Willow has sent his HeartGift out into the world in hopes of finding his HeartMate, who, it turns out, is DuFleur. Still, DuFleur wants nothing to do with Saille, especially when she discovers that it was his grandmother who brought about her father's ruin. Unfortunately, her body can't help but submit to the passion he stirs in her. But when a scandal threatens Saille's position as head of the family, will DuFleur stand by his side?

This is the sixth book in the series and I love this series. It is a great story and told in a really great world. The characters that have evolved and been born in this series are wonderful. I highly recommend if you have not read them and enjoy fantasy romance. The first in the series is called Heart Mate. The only other one I have posted about is the previous book, Heart Quest.

Atlantis Awakening

Warriors of Poseidon: Atlantis Awakening (Book 2) Atlantis Awakening (Warriors of Poseidon Book 2) by Alyssa Day

To rescue the world from an overwhelming evil, Poseidon's warriors have risen from Atlantis. Chief among them is Ven, serving as the King's Vengeance by birthright and by battle challenge. None can conquer him--except perhaps for one human female....
The Warrior... Ven's mind is filled with duty. He must serve as Atlantean liaison to the humans in a war waged against the vampires. A sword is his weapon--not diplomacy. But on a mission to recover the Nereid's heart--a ruby of immense power--it will take every ounce of strength he possesses to resist the sexual allure of the beautiful witch chosen to work with him.
And the Witch... Erin's heart is filled with vengeance. She lives only for the chance at revenge against those who murdered her family. Now she must partner with a legendary Atlantean warrior whose dark desire threatens to crash through the barriers built around her emotions--and her heart. Caught in the trap of shifting alliances, how long can Ven and Erin resist their awakening passion?

Dark forces beware: Atlantis is awakening.

This was an awesome book. I enjoyed it much more than book 1. This is actually the third story in the series. The first is the book, Atlantis Rising (Con and Riley's story) and the second story is in the anthology Wild Thing (and is Bastien and ??? can't remember her name at the moment).
I thought it was a good all round story. Had action, good story line, did not drag, nice love scenes, and an HEA and not predictable. Worked for me.

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night and stuff

12/01/2007 11:47:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (3)

Well I am sitting up procrastinating about cleaning my house. I have to do it, but I keep saying i will do it later. I am having a jewelry party at my house tomorrow/today/Sunday (it is late), so the house has to look presentable. I also have some cool news but I will tell you about that later.
Ran around all morning. My oldest daughter was in the city Christmas parade earlier today then we had about 10 minutes to rush home, change into her soccer uniform and race to the field for her team pictures and then a game. We made it, barely. She had a great time at both events so it was worth it.
Well I really should go clean, on with the review.

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night (The Immortals After Dark, Book 3)Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole

Her breathless kiss haunts him...
Bowen MacRieve of the Lykae clan was nearly destroyed when he lost the one woman meant for him. The ruthless warrior grew even colder, never taking another to his bed -- until a smoldering encounter with his enemy, Mariketa the Awaited, reawakens his darkest desires. When sinister forces unite against her, the Highlander finds himself using all his strength and skill to keep her alive.
His slow, hot touch is irresistible...
Temporarily stripped of her powers, Mari is forced to take refuge with her sworn adversary. It's rumored that no one can tempt Bowen's hardened heart, but soon passion burns between them. Though a future together is impossible, she fears he has no intention of letting her go.
No deed is too wicked for her seduction...
If they defeat the evil that surrounds them, can Mari deny Bowen when he demands her body and soul -- or will she risk everything for her fierce protector?

This is the third full book in the "Immortals After Dark" series. This is a great series and helpful if read in order. For more info about it click here. I just finished it tonight and really enjoyed it. Bowen has issues but he is trying to change to win Mari and does not whine about it like Deke does in Decadent (now that I think about it that is one reason I did not like that book as much as the first one, he was whiny).
The characters are a good match, they made me want to keep reading. A couple of times I was not quite following the story during the Hie and the trapping in the cave. I do not know if it was because I was tired or it was difficult to follow. I will have to re-read it later when I have had more sleep. If you have read it please let me know.

Fire and Ice

12/01/2007 11:36:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (1)

Fire & Ice PRINT Fire and Ice by Jerri Drennen

He’s a hunky fire investigator, she creates ice sculptures—when these two get together things can’t help but sizzle.
Fire investigation is Knox Manning’s passion, that is until he meets the suspect in his latest arson case. The moment he locks eyes with Melanie Sharp’s powder blue gaze his knees buckle—a foreign reaction to the six-foot-two fireman. Thing is, the woman is trouble with a capital “T”. Messing with her could cost him his job and his sanity. That’s what his mind says anyway, too bad his body isn’t listening.
Melanie’s a talent, an up-and-comer in the cultured art world and a woman with a less than stellar past. When one of her promotional fliers is found at the scene of a burned out house, she suddenly finds herself the focus of an arson investigation. One led by a dark-haired man who scares her as much as he thrills her. The house blaze had been set, but not by Melanie. She’s determined to prove that to Knox, who has suddenly become the catalyst of her secret sexual fantasies—igniting an inferno so intense she’s afraid of sustaining third-degree burns.

This was a nice quick read. I would not classify it as the best thing I have read but it was nice. It kept my interest and was satisfyingly steamy. Plus I love the cover.

Wicked Ties and Decadent

Wicked Ties Wicked Ties by Shayla Black

When a stalker ratchets up his attempts to get to her, cable sex talk show host Morgan O'Malley turns to Jack Cole-a self-proclaimed dominant- for help. Though Jack is a bodyguard, Morgan feels anything but safe in his presence. Because slowly and seductively, Jack is bringing her deepest fantasies to the surface. And when he bends her to his will, what's more shocking than her surrender is how much she enjoys it and how she starts to crave his masterful touch. A willing player in Jack's games, Morgan knows that his motives aren't pure. But she has no idea how personal they are.

I really loved this book. I read it a while ago but I remember that I loved it, i just did not get to blog about it. A great D/s book. There is one scene of menage if that bothers you. It is a fantasy of the heroines and the hero does not like it but says that if he cannot fulfill her fantasies then he is not the Dom for her so he does it, for her. I thought that was cool.

Decadent Decadent by Shayla Black

Kimber Edgington is a virgin with a crush-on a pop star with a penchant for threesomes. Determined to prove that she's woman enough for singer Jesse McCall, Kimber turns to bodyguard Deke Trenton for sexual education...lessons that include his super-sexy friend Luc. Though she's saved herself for Jesse, Kimber soon learns that he's not the man adept at stoking her aching, endless need. That's Deke, and he can't resist when Kimber begs for more-and more.

This was good but I think I liked Wicked Ties better. The hero of this book was the man that Jake got to do the menage with Morgan. The book revolved around the menage of Deke and Kimber and Luc, but Deke and Kimber are the real hero and heroine. The whole book is about Deke getting over his past fears to claim Kimber for his own. In my opinion it took way too long for that to happen. The book was very steamy and those parts were good but the storyline began to wear on me.

I am back

11/26/2007 09:24:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (5)

I finally have internet again!!!!!!!!!!! I have been living vicariously through the internet at my work and at the library so I could not post. But I have been lurking at some of my usual haunts. My work computer does not let me access many blogs so that was very limited. I am so excited to be back on my computer.
But I have bought a house and moved in with my family. It is our first house so we are very excited. The backyard is huge and the kids are loving it.

I have been reading continuously as usual. When I first went off line I was keeping a list of all the books i read to post about later but then as the time wore on and I still did not have internet I stopped keeping track.
Currently I am reading Touch the Dark by Karen Chance and am enjoying it, I have the next book on request from the library. I am also re-reading the Aisling Grey books by Katie MacAlister so I can read the latest one.
Most recently I read Nauti Nights (The Nauti Trilogy, Book 2) Nauti Nights by Lora Leigh and The Fortune Hunter (Berkley Sensation)The Fortune Hunter by Jasmine Haynes

Nauti Nights was awesome, I love this series, it is based around three cousins who have always shared their women and are now finding the one they do not want to share. The first book is called Nauti Boy and is about Rowdy Mackay. This one is about Dawg Mackay. He has fantasies about the one that got away, or did she, he does not remember.

The Fortune Hunter
It appears that insecure heiress Faith Castle's dreams of having a baby are close to coming true. She's finally been proposed to! But Connor Kingston happens to be as honest as he is handsome, making plain that his offer is purely a career move. A marriage of convenience is far from romantic, but Faith agrees-after all, she's getting what she wants as well. She has only one caveat: she requires his absolute fidelity. But her randy fiance wants to be free to come and go. What transpires is the sexiest and most unpredictable love story of the season.

This was a nice and fun marriage of convenience story. The characters are fun to watch as they explore each other and their relationship grows.

When her twin brother Alex turns up missing, shape-shifter Brenna Lupe locates his former partner, Carson Turner, only to find out Carson is hunting Alex too—but for different reasons. Seeking revenge for the death of his family, Carson believes Alex is responsible. In the midst of undercover drug deals and bikers, can Brenna prove him wrong, and show him that love is once again possible? Will love be enough for Carson to accept her dual nature and reach out for the happiness that is within his grasp?

This is the first in her Pack series that started in Harleqiun's Intimate Moments collection and is now in it's Nocturne collection. The order of the series is :One Eye Open (SIM), One Eye Closed (SIM), "Soul of the Wolf" ( in Sillouette Signature Select anthology Beyond the Dark), Secrets of the Wolf (SIM), Cry of the Wolf (Nocturne), Touch of the Wolf (Nocturne). Amazon has Cry of the Wolf listed as book 6 but it is not it is book 5. I am missing Book 2 and 3 so I am on the lookout at my ubs. They are all pretty good. They concentrate more on the suspense than the shifter aspect of the story though.

But someone else watched Samantha from the shadows. And soon, claiming Samantha might not be Luc's forbidden desire, but his only choice for protecting her life.

The Daystar (Templar Vampire Novels)
The Daystar (A Templar Vampire novel) by Rene Lyons
Can she heal lifetimes of pain and make him believe salvation is possible? Always feeling different from the world around her, a power grows within Lexine Parker. In the light is where she belongs-even as she finds herself thrust into the nocturnal realm of the Templar vampires. Scarred by a brutal past, Constantine is a creature consumed with rage. He knows only darkness and sin. Believing he fights a losing battle of redemption, heaven is something he doesn't dare hope for-until Lexine makes him believe salvation is possible. Locked away in an ancient castle, they come together in body and spirit, searching for love to chase away the darkness. With Constantine's soul at stake and Lex's life on the line, the nights tick down to a cataclysmic event that could tear them apart forever.

This is the sequal to the book Midnight Sun (Allie and Sebastian's story) and is helpful if you have read that one first. I did not. I am now looking for that one to read. This was a very good book and i enjoyed it very much. Part of it would have made more sense of I had read the other first. But I would love to be able to read that one and then I will re-read this one back to back. The characters are very interesting and I want to read more about them.

The Devil and Ms Johnson

The Devil and Ms Johnson by Hannah Murray
A government agent, Devon Bannion is burnt out. He just wants to retire and join his best friend and ex-partner Ian in his Chicago security business, but Uncle Sam demands he complete one last job. He gets to Chicago too late to be best man at Ian's wedding but just in time to discover the maid of honor asleep in his borrowed bed. Lacey Johnson, a web designer and hacking consultant for the FBI, got a little smashed at the wedding and crashed in the wrong bedroom. Lucky thing, otherwise her first encounter with Devon, a man she knows only from photographs and the fantasies they inspired, probably wouldn't have involved a bet and sweaty monkey sex. Because the next morning, Devon discovers his partner for his last job is Lacey, and he's not happy about it. Having her for a "civilian" partner certainly isn't his first choice, but he decides there are definite advantages to playing happy couple at a resort with Lacey. But what was supposed to be a simple assignment soon goes dangerously awry, and it will take all of Devon's skill and Lacey's ingenuity to get them out alive.

This was a fun book. It was a contemporary book with a little action and some comedy and lots of hot romance. The characters were a lot of fun, Lacey cracks me up. There is a book before this one called Jane and the Sneaky Dom that I have to read now. It is not imperative that the book be read in order. This was the first book that I have read by Ms Murray, but it won't be the last.

All Jacked Up (Berkley Sensation)All Jacked Up by Penny McCall
A steamy debut that pits a book-smart beauty against a buff FBI agent. Since Jack Mitchell barged into her life, librarian Aubrey Sullivan has been abducted at gunpoint, taken on a death-defying car chase, and kissed within an inch of madness. If only she does what he says, they might just get out of this mess alive. That is, if they can keep their hands off each other long enough to think straight.

Not a bad book, not my favorite, but not bad. At one point I was thinking about the energizer bunny wondering if this book was ever going to end. There is another book coming out called Tag, your it (hero's name is Tag), I will probably try this one, because this was my first book by her and I try not to rule someone out after one book.

White Heat

White Heat: A NovelWhite Heat by Cherry Adair
Never have the stakes been higher. Never have two people faced greater risks or grappled with deeper desire. Never has Cherry Adair–award-winning author of Hot Ice–burned the pages with so much blazing action and blistering passion.
Professional art restorer Emily Greene is in no mood to see the devil-may-care Max Aries. She hasn’t forgotten–or forgiven–the way Max dropped into her life a year ago, stole her heart, then vanished without a word. Max hadn’t kept in touch with his father, Daniel, either. Daniel Aries had been a master of art restoration and reproduction, and not only Emily’s longtime mentor, but a trusted friend. His unexpected suicide devastates her. And when the prodigal playboy Max returns, her welcome is less than warm–even though his timely arrival in her bedroom saves her from a lethal intruder. But her fury gives way to fear when Max reveals that his father’s death was actually murder . . . and that Emily’s life is now in danger. Like it or not, to stay alive, Emily must put herself in Max’s hands. And once upon a time, that wasn’t such a bad place to be.
But what killer would target professional restorers of Renaissance artworks? Max suspects that a pencil sketch found in his father’s studio, inscribed with a cryptic code, may hold the key. His hunch is confirmed when intel from his control at the counterterrorist organization T-FLAC reveals that the Black Rose terror cell is involved–a chilling revelation that elevates the threat level almost as high as the tension that’s bristling between Max and Emily. Max isn’t about to take his eyes off Emily–though only partly for professional reasons–and even Emily’s rage over Max’s take-charge attitude can’t compare to her anger at herself for so long denying the truer, deeper feelings she has for him. As they crisscross Europe, piecing together the shocking clues to an insidious international plot, dodging increasingly lethal traps, and passionately making up for too much lost time, they realize that–in more ways than one–they can’t live without each other. With no chance of turning back, Max and Emily must put their lives on the line, put their true feelings to the test . . . and get ready to take the heat.

I have noticed while reading this book that i really enjoy books that take place in the art, dance or music world. This one was no exception. This was a great book in her T-FLAC series. Though I had to try to remember what happened before the Edge trilogy. So that was a little difficult. Max was a great hero and I loved Emily, she was cool. She was not a kick butt heroine but she was not whiny or one who is positive that her way is the right way and ends up getting herself into even more trouble. She is trust into a world that is scary and where she sees death first hand and I think that she handles it pretty well.

The Devil's Temptation

The Devil's TemptationThe Devil's Temptation by Kimberly Logan

A debauched ball, packed with London's seediest revelers, is no place for the decent young woman I've tried so hard to be. But if I'm to avoid my mother's shameful scandal that led to her still-unsolved murder-I, Lady Maura Daventry, must be willing to hunt everywhere for the truth about her killer. But I never expected I would encounter the devil himself: the Earl of Hawksley (Gabriel Sutcliff), a wicked, charismatic rakehell who has set ton tongues wagging by bedding women all over London . . . and whose father was the prime suspect in the murder of his married lover - my mother.
But new evidence seems to suggest another culprit was responsible-and the only man offering to assist me in my hunt is the dangerously seductive Hawksley, who, alas, grows more intriguing to me by the hour.
I have heard the stories of his grand indiscretions. But I never dreamed I would become one.

This is the second book in what I think is a trilogy. The first book is Sins of Midnight and is about her sister who is mentioned in this book but not really seen until the end. I liked this book, the heroine occasionally got on my nerves but not enough that I did not like the book.

Raintree: Sanctuary (Silhouette Nocturne)
Raintree: Sanctuary by Beverly Barton
War with their archrival, the evil Ansara clan, is unavoidable. For Mercy Raintree, a war means she must assume her position as guardian of the Sanctuary—the sacred Raintree home place deep in the Smoky Mountains. But doing so threatens to disclose her most prized secret—one Mercy has kept to herself for six years.

As the solstice looms and the battle heats up, Dranir Judah Ansara gathers his forces, intending to wipe every Raintree from the face of the land. Including Mercy, whom he's claimed as his to kill. Then he comes face-to-face with her—and with her daughter, Eve. Will Mercy's closely guarded secret change not only the outcome of the battle—but also Judah's own bitter heart?

Well, this was the final book in the trilogy. I have enjoyed it but am not sure that I would have bought the books if I had read them first. I think that the second book was the best of the three with the third book coming in second. I wish the first book had been longer but I know that they probably have a word cap on those books that they cannot be more than so many words. It was an interesting ending and I liked how it ended.

Stray

StrayStray by Rachel Vincent
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.

Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked.

I'd been warned about Strays—werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.

This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back…for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever—and whoever—I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays—'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them….

This was a great book. It reminds me of Moon Called by Patricia Briggs and it also reminds me of Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause. So if you liked those I think that you will like this one. One thing that the synopsis does not mention is that because of the males sperm there are not very many females at all of there species, there are only like 6 females in North America and she is one of them that is why her family and everyone else is so protective of her.

For Pete's Sake

7/17/2007 11:26:00 AM / Posted by Kris / comments (0)

For Pete's Sake (Berkley Sensation) For Pete's Sake by Geri Buckley
The death of her grandmother--the beloved matriarch of Langstown, Florida--has thrown Pietra "Pete" Lang's preparations for the Fourth of July into chaos. But nothing is going to stop her from throwing the most fabulous party ever. Not the fireworks igniting between her and her brother's infamous divorce attorney. And especially not the dead body in the freezer.

Was not a big fan of this book. The heroine annoyed me and the plot annoyed me. The plot and character issues for me were moral and legal. They find a dead body in her grandmother freezer after she dies but Pete refuses to contact the police because of how it would affect her dead grandmother's reputation, and the lawyer boyfriend went along with that (he did eventually tell but still it bugged me). I guess maybe I watch too many crime shows where I know that it is illegal to not report a body.
Well, I finished it because I was at camp and this was my last book. It did grow on me a little to where I did not put it down even thought I had nothing else to read but it was not my favorite read of the week. But hey it was $1 at Save-a-lot so at least I did not pay full price for it.

Promises Trilogy and stuff

7/15/2007 10:56:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (4)

Well, I am back from camp and am now a home owner. Yeah!! busy times.
When I packed for camp I remembered that last year I brought three books an finished them by Tuesday and had nothing else to read. So this year I brought 5 books thinking I would be covered. No luck I finished them by Wednesday and then started re-reading. So I read Promises Keep twice. My hubby is the director for that week of camp and the only responsibility I have is to play with my kids, so this is like my vacation time. But after the kids go to bed at 8pm I am alone with no tv or internet for three hours until the hubby gets done with the campers. So I read. And I love it, but I need more books. Lots of reviews coming up.

Anyway, you know how hard it is to close on a house when you are out of town. Well that is what we did. We closed by Fed Ex. Now we have a house and are spending way too much time at Lowe's buying things to fix the house up. It is fun but stressful at times. You have all these ideas but limited budget and time. We are excited though.

The Promises Trilogy by Sarah McCarty
I loved these books. I do not have too many westerns so they are always a treat to read. These were nice and hot so that was even better. I loved the characters and had a lot of fun with them. Thank you zeek!!
The books need to be read in order because the characters visit in each book. Warning about the second book, Promises Keep, it starts out rough, but stick with it.

Promises Linger by Sarah McCarty

Elizabeth Coyote will do anything, anything at all, to save the ranch she loves, including marrying Asa MacIntyre, a broad shouldered, lean hipped silver eyed gunslinger with a ruthless reputation for getting the job done.
Asa dreams of a place of his own, a wife, and the respect that comes with both. Marrying Elizabeth may have started as a means to an end, but nothing in Asa's wildest dreams prepares him for the excitement of unleashing the carnal woman beneath his wife's prim and proper exterior.

Promises Keep by Sarah McCarty

Being kidnapped into a bordello has a way of changing a woman’s focus. On the day Mara Kincaid escapes the Pleasure Emporium, she vows to start living for herself. Rebuilding her life isn’t easy as the town isn’t fond of reformed fallen doves, but she’s a Kincaid and Kincaids are known for their stubbornness. She’s successful right up until the notorious ex-marshal Cougar McKinnley comes into town.
As big as a mountain, dark as sin, and wearing a reputation as deadly as the knife strapped to his thigh, McKinnley is a man who knows what he wants. By rights, she should be shaking in her shoes when he approaches her, but when the powerful half-breed turns his dark gold eyes on her, it isn’t fear that has Mara trembling, but rather an overwhelming desire to be the kind of woman Cougar needs to satisfy his deepest desires.

Promises Prevail by Sarah McCarty

Jenna never planned on getting married again, not only because her first husband had been a brutal monster, but because no man would want a crippled barren woman, but when fate sends her a helpless little baby to love, Jenna vows to do whatever she needs to in order to keep her daughter, even marrying Clint McKinnely. Big, dark and simmering with a deadly intensity, the exotically handsome ex marshal could put fear into the devil. He certainly strikes fear into her, but though she accepts his offer of marriage in the same practical vein it's made, Jenna soon discovers the man behind the reputation is a man like no other. A man to whom a woman could trust her heart.
Clint McKinnely is a man made hard by life, burned out by the choices he's made, looking for a reason to go on. He finds one in Jenna Hennessy. Lushly plump, sweet and shy, innocent in ways that have nothing to do with inexperience, she calls to him on the deepest levels. Still, he never would have touched her except for the vagaries of fate. When the town fathers threaten to take away the daughter she loves, Clint steps forward. While he can't offer Jenna love, he can offer her a home in which to raise the baby and the child the protection that comes with being a McKinnely. Having Jenna and Brianna in his home brings Clint a peace and satisfaction he's never known before, but even as he ferrets out the secrets that haunt Jenna's nightmares, Clint keeps his own close to his chest, knowing this is temporary, because even though Jenna is a woman with an incredibly generous heart, there are just some sins a woman can't be expected to forgive.

Lords of the Were “Lords of the Were” (Tales of the Were Book 1) by Bianca D'Arc
I liked this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series. It was a good intro book to the series.

An ancient evil is stalking the twin alpha rulers of the werefolk and the half-were woman who is destined to be their mate if she lives long enough. First in the Tales of the Were. Fulfilling her mothers dying wish, Allie climbs a wooded hill just before midnight on Samhain, All Hallows Eve. At the top, she finds an overgrown, magical stone circle, and her destiny. Waiting for her there are twin alpha werewolves who will be her sworn protectors, her mentors and the loves of her life. If she lives long enough. Overprotective is just one word to describe Rafe and Tim. Sexy is most definitely another. But their newfound love and all their skills both mundane and magical will be tested by an ancient evil. A hostile human mage and a misguided vampire hunt them, servants to secret plans of the ancient Venifucus, a society dedicated to destroying women like Allie. They will earn unlikely allies, including a half-fey knight imprisoned Underhill for centuries. But will it be enough to battle the evil that stalks them? Will Allies men be strong enough to let her aid them in her own defense? Only together can were, fey and vampire defeat this latest threat and learn that love does truly conquer all.

The Lost Wolf Warrior

lww The Lost Wolf Warrior by Rae Monet

I enjoyed this story a lot. I had never read her before and won a book from her at the TRS giveaway and decided to get this one. You know I love werewolf books and that is what I thought this one was, it was not but it was still very good. It was about a group of people who have an affinity to wolves and can communicate with them telepathically. All the warriors have a birthmark tattoo of a wolf and there are some other marks depending on your gifts. This happens at the time when Edward rules England and decided that wolves were menaces and they all needed to be killed. So these people hid to protect the wolves and themselves. But in one battle, a little boy was lost and never seen again. Thus the name of the story. This is the first in a series and I am interesting in reading the rest of them.

The year is 1311. Serena de Reincolt, a young Warrior of the Wolf, is tasked with a quest: Retrieve the sacred scrolls of Solaria and the outlawed murderer, Ziem. Failure means certain death for the Solarians. Found at age six in the Forest of the Dean with no memory of his former life, Lord Roan Aston, the Wolf, has always felt a part of him was missing. One thing Roan knows for certain--he is finished with warring. Taking up King Edward's offer to protect a castle on the Scottish border, Roan is as content as he can be. It wasn't until Roan met an incredible woman in the most extraordinary circumstances that he pieced together his purpose in life. But their journey is fraught with danger and a vengeful King who will stop at nothing less than eradication of all those he feels threaten his rule. Suddenly, Roan and Serena are protecting more than a society of gifted people; they are fighting for their lives, their love, and a fantastic legend.

Bad as She Wants to Be and The Supplicant

7/10/2007 07:00:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (3)

These stories were both a case of Too much sex. I am going to come back later to post the book cover but I am at camp and cannot get the pic to copy.

Bad as She Wants to Be by Thea Devine
I would classify this one as erotic but I would not call it erotic romance. There was not very much romance in it. I did not like it very much. I had to force myself to finish it and I was hoping that it would get better. It did get a little better toward the end but not enough to make me want to try it again later. The whole story was her going to orgies and sleeping with everyone she came into contact with. The story did nothing for me at all.

One hot summer's day, everything changes for Frannie Luttrell after she rescues rich, young Marianne Nyland from drowning. An innocent small-town girl from the other side of the Bar Harbor tracks, Frannie is rechristened "Frankie" and swept into Marianne's glamorous world of wanton sensuality and expensive fun. Soon she is enjoying decadent pleasures beyond her wildest imagination with any and every guy she desires—except for the man she really wants, the ever-aloof Dax Cordrey, who disapproves of her new, indulgent life.
Offered a job as Marianne's personal assistant (aka permanent party pal) in New York City, Frankie and the insatiable Marianne hit the town on exotic nightly sexcapades, fulfilling their wildest fantasies. But when Marianne is found dead—and Frankie is named her sole heir—gossip flies like wildfire and a steamy sex tape featuring the Cinderella heiress suddenly appears. Deciding to make the most of her fifteen minutes of fame, Frankie acts the part of a publicity princess—while trying to prove to Dax that she's not the scandalous vixen she's been made into. She's only as bad as she wants to be...for the right person.

The Supplicant by Lucinda Betts
This story I liked more. It still had too much for me (which says alot) but it was not as bad as the above book. It is a fantasy book and was very interesting so I did enjoy reading it, but it is very explicit and do not read if you do not like the heroine sleeping with other people (females included). I will post the description later because I cannot get it on this computer.

Rises the Night (The Gardella Vampire Chronicles Book 2) by Colleen Gleason
This is the second book in the series and it was intense. I spent the whole book trying to figure out whose side Max was on. The info about Sebastian was very interesting too. Can't wait for the next book.

In Italy, a powerful vampire is amassing the power to control the souls of the dead. Lady Victoria Gardella de Lacy-a vampire slayer for just over a year-races across Europe to stop what could be the most deadly army the Gardellas have ever faced. She is accompanied by Sebastian Vioget, a man as tempting as he is untrustworthy.
But when Victoria discovers that she has been betrayed by one of her most trusted allies, the truth will challenge all her powers as a Venator-and as a woman.

Atlantean's Quest: Exodus (Book 2)
Exodus (Atlantean's Quest Book 2) by Jordan Summers
Well reading this out of order was not too bad. Definitely would have been a little helpful to have read the other book first. (Atlantean's Quest: The Arrival) Because she is going in to the jungles of South America looking for her friend who disappeared (heroine from the first book). Interesting book.

Pistols,, Check. Knife, Check. Bug spray, Check.
Jac was prepared for everything a sultry jungle could throw at her. Everything but an encounter with a dark-haired, jade-eyed Adonis named Ares. Nothing on the planet could have prepared her for him... Hunter becomes hunted as two strong wills collide. In a game of domination there can be only one winner.

Hidden Agenda

Hidden Agendas (Tempting Seals, Book 4) Hidden Agenda (Tempting SEALs Book 4)by Lora Leigh
I liked this book alot, but I will say that i think the weak point is the heroine. She is a little whiny. She actually gets a backbone and stands up to her dad half way through the book, but she still whines a bunch. The next book (Killer Secrets) looks great, I can't wait for it.

SAVING LIVES IS HIS MISSION. Tough-as-nails Navy SEAL Kell Kreiger is the best there is at searching, rescuing, and taking no prisoners…yet even the rush of ever-more dangerous missions isn’t enough to satisfy him. Haunted by a tortured past, Kell seeks distraction in a secret world of dark intimacies. But when Emily Stanton, the one ray of light in Kell’s shadowy existence, is pursued by a ruthless drug lord, the rules of the game suddenly change—and Kell will have to go deeper undercover than he ever imagined... SAVING HER IS HIS PASSION. Emily has loved Kell ever since her father, a prominent politician, rescued him from a brutal life on the streets. Colters' Woman
Colters' Woman by Maya Banks

This was a HOT book!! It has got to be hard to juggle a relationship of four. Two people in a relationship is hard enough. I had heard a lot about this book and finally got it, it was very good.

Adam, Ethan and Ryan aren't looking for women. They're looking for a woman. One woman to share their lives and their beds. They don't want a casual romp in the hay, they want the woman who will complete them and they're losing hope of finding her. That is until Adam finds Holly lying in the snow just yards from their cabin. He knows she's different the minute he holds her in his arms. But before Adam gets his hopes up, he knows he has to gauge his brothers reactions. Soon its evident that shes the one. There are a few problems, however convincing her she belongs with them and keeping her safe from the man who wants her dead.

Safe Harbor (Drake Sisters, Book 5)
Safe Harbor (Drake Sisters Book 5) by Christine Feehan

I really enjoyed this book in the series. The first in the series is Magic in the Wind. The series goes from the oldest sister to the youngest as per a prophesy about their family. (I talked about the previous book here.) Hannah is the 5th sister and a shy but beautiful model. The hookup between her and Jonas has been eagerly anticipated. The story was fast paced which was very good The only thing for me that would have brought the grade down a little would be Hannah was a little whiny, not to where I wanted to shoot her, but she was a little whiny in this one.

One of seven daughters in a line of extraordinary women, Hannah Drake has been the elusive object of affection for Jonas Harrington for as long as the young man can remember. If only the stunning super-model was driven by a passion other than her career. But Jonas isn’t the only one with desires for Hannah.

From the shadows has emerged a vengeful figure who stalks the beauty with one terrifying purpose: to strip her of all she is and destroy her. Only one man was destined as her protection. Now, out of a storm of danger, Jonas must guide the woman he loves from a sinister darkness that threatens not only Hannah, but the entire Drake family.

Prince of Fire (Berkley Sensation)
Prince of Fire (Children of the Sun trilogy Book 2) by Linda Winstead Jones
This is the second book in this trilogy. The first book is called Prince of Magic and deals with the first part of the story and the first of the cousins. These are the children of Ms Jones's heroines in her witch (or Sisters of the Sun) trilogy.

Despite the prophesies, Keelia, Queen of the Anwyn, would never let a wild Caradon, a man who can shape-shift into a mountain cat, touch her. But when one kidnaps her, mistaking her for the caster of a spell on his people, Keelia realizes she has never been more wrong. Her Caradon captor is the very same lover as in her torrid, recurring dream ...

No man alive, Caradon or not, can resist a sensuous Anwyn queen. When Joryn, the Queen's kidnapper, realizes his mistake, the two must work together to undo the wicked spell. Neither can deny the crackling chemistry between them nor can they deny the ever-looming Prophesy of the Firstborn: She will betray love in the name of victory ...

Prince of Swords (Berkley Sensation) Prince of Swords (Children of the Sun trilogy Book 3) by Linda Winstead Jones
This was a good conclusion to the series. Though for me a couple of times it was dragging as they traveled to the army, but that was very few times. Good trilogy, I am not sure if I would personally buy it, but I enjoyed reading it.

As the forces of good and evil clash in an epic battle, the firstborn children of the Fyne witches have finally come into their own, each with a special gift that will shape their destiny ...

For months, Rayne has been imprisoned in the cellar of a secluded house, afraid of the day when the demon-possessed Ciro - the man who has declared himself her future husband - will return to claim her. He believes that the linking of her pure soul with his lost one will produce the perfect child - one who will serve his ultimate purpose.
The Prophesy of the Firstborn spells out that Lyr Hern is to wield the crystal dagger. But his search for it is sidetracked by the beautiful prisoner he encounters. Despite his attraction to Rayne, Lyr is none too happy about taking her along once he has freed her. Especially when - to foil Ciro's plans - Rayne decides that Lyr is just the man to corrupt her ...

I think I heard about this series from nath and found out that my library had them, so I requested the first book. It took about 2 months to get it but I got it last week while I was out of town and read it Sunday. I loved it. It took me about a quarter of the way through the book to get used to reading right to left, but I got it now. Then I went out the other night and got the second one. Of course since I do not have the next one handy this one ends in a slight cliffhanger, mid-conversation. But I have the next two on request. Hopefully they will get here faster than last time. But thank you for introducing me to them, nath, I love them.

The series is (so far) about two teens, Rei and Kira and their relationship. Rei is the school bad boy and Kira is a shy artist.
