Unlawful Contact (Berkley Sensation)Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare
When a young woman disappears, journalist Sophie Alton investigates and is led to the woman's brother, a convicted killer who is running from the law. Together, they follow a dangerous path toward the truth-and unforgettable passion.

Wow, I had never read her before, I do not know why now. This has been sitting in my tbr pile for a while and I regret putting off for so long. I really enjoyed it, I will have to look for more by her.

Hell On Wheels
Hell on Wheels by Karen Kelley
No doubt about it: Cody Carlyle is the hottest bounty hunter around with a well-deserved reputation for bringing in the toughest skips. If she’s learned one motto in this business—and in life—it’s this: never turn your back. Never give an inch. And never, ever offer your heart.
Fellow bounty hunter Josh Pierce has had his eye on Cody’s every luscious curve for quite some time. The hunky ex-undercover cop would love to show her that some things are worth believing in, things like the kind of ecstasy he’d happily show her in bed. Hey, fighting this kind of white-hot attraction is just wrong. So why not give in to a little Josh Pierce temptation? Why not share one amazing, toe-curling night of indescribable, head-scrambling passion and then walk away, no hard feelings? But the night they spend together is beyond amazing. It’s sheer bliss. Not that it could ever happen again. Could it?
What was supposed to be a one-time deal is quickly becoming a very tempting habit—one they could stop at any time, of course. Like after the next time. Or maybe next week—no rush. Suddenly, two bounty hunters who never believed in anything are open to everything, scared of it all, and ready to discover what happens when you go after the biggest catch out there…true love…

Fun book. The characters were spunky and entertaining to watch. Good stuff.

Sorry I have not posted lately, been busy with the baby. Emily is doing well. She was having some digestive issues so the doctor is trying her in Soy formula to see how she does with that. So far so good. Besides that she is doing well. When she sleeps more I will be perfect. I am very tired right now. They say to sleep when she does but those people doe not have 3 and 6 year olds running around the house as well. Luckily the other two have let us sleep in a little, which is totally trowing off my schedule for when school starts. Oh well, I will deal with that later. But I am getting a lot of reading done. I tend to read while I am feeding her and since she eats every 3 -4 hours that is a lot of reading. I hope that everyone had a good weekend.

Rising Tides: The Chesapeake Bay Saga #2 (The Quinn Brothers Trilogy)
Rising Tides (Chesapeake Bay Book 2) by Nora Roberts
Eager to honour their father's dying wish that their youngest brother, Seth, be cared for, the three settle into life with a 10-year-old. Ethan finds himself the most drawn to the young boy, because both suffered horrific abuse before being adopted by the Quinns. Time hasn't extinguished Ethan's pain, however, only buried it deep within his heart, a fact that may keep him from the only woman he has ever loved. Of all the brothers, it was Ethan who shared his father's passion for the Maryland shore, and now with his father gone, he is determined to make the family boat building business a success. But amidst his achievements lie the most important challenges of his life. There is young Seth, who needs him more than ever. And the woman he has always loved but never believed he could have. Beneath Ethan's seemingly still waters is his dark and painful past. He must learn to see through the shadows and to accept who he is, or risk losing his one true chance at happiness...

Inner Harbor: The Chesapeake Bay Saga #3 (Chesapeake Bay)
Inner Harbor (Chesapeake Bay Book 3) by Nora Roberts
Philip Quinn is juggling his high-powered advertising job and his new-found family duty of helping to care for his young adopted brother, Seth, when Dr. Sybill Griffin shows up in the sleepy town of St. Christopher. Philip had done everything to make his life seem perfect. With his career on the fast track and a condo overlooking the Inner Harbour, his life on the streets was firmly in the past. But one look at Seth, and he's reminded of the boy he once was. Seth's future as a Quinn seems assured - until Dr. Griffin shows up. She claims to be researching St. Christopher's for her new book, but the true objects of her study are the Quinn brothers. Her cool reserve intrigues Phillip. He is determined to uncover her motives, and while Sybill can't deny her own growing feelings for the charismatic Quinn, the secret she hides has the power to threaten the life that the brothers have made for Seth, and destroy any chance that the two young lovers have at happiness...

Chesapeake Blue: The Chesapeake Bay Saga #4 (Chesapeake Bay)
Chesapeake Blue (Chesapeake Bay Book 4) by Nora Roberts
Seth Quinn is finally home. It's been a long journey. After a harrowing boyhood with his drug-addicted mother, he'd been taken in by the Quinn family, growing up with three older brothers who'd watched over him with love. Now a grown man returning from Europe as a successful painter, Seth is settling down on Maryland's Eastern Shore, surrounded once again by Cam, Ethan, and Phil, their wives and children, all the blessed chaos of the extended Quinn clan. Finally, he's back in the little blue-and-white house where there's always a boat at the dock, a rocker on the porch, and a dog in the yard. Still, a lot has changed in St. Christopher since he's been gone-and the most intriguing change of all is the presence of Dru Whitcomb Banks. A city girl who's opened a florist shop in this seaside town, she craves independence and the challenge of establishing herself without the influence of her wealthy connections. In Seth, she sees another kind of challenge-a challenge that she can't resist. But storms are brewing that are about to put their relationship to the test. Dru's past has made her sensitive to deception-and slow to trust. And Seth's past has made him a target of blackmail-as a secret he's kept hidden for years threatens to explode, destroying his new life and his new love. . . .

I enjoyed both of these books very much. Thanks nath for encouraging me to read them. The first in the series is Sea Swept. This was a great series. I loved the byplay between the brothers and it was fun to watch them try to figure out what to do with a surly 10 year old. My favorite of the series was Rising Tides, I love the strong, quiet guys (Ethan). If you have not read these and enjoy straight contemporary then you will enjoy these.

Dancing With Fire
Dancing with Fire by Susan Kearney

Accident or Murder? Dance instructor Kaylin Danner has sacrificed her chance to be a Broadway star to help her father raise her younger sisters in Florida. When her father's laboratory blows sky high and his priceless formula for a revolutionary new fuel disappears, Kaylin is left with nothing but her father's business partner Sawyer Scott and a cache of deadly trouble.

Life or Death? When the Danner family home is vandalized and her sisters are threatened, Kaylin and Sawyer team up to unmask the killer terrorizing her family. Sawyer's bent on pursuing both Kaylin and the missing formula, but Kaylin fights the attraction, believing Sawyer's a dreamer like her father--and in her experience, dreamers end up dead.

I love the nerd hero!! This one was no exception. Good story.

Pleasure Unbound (Demonica Book 1) by Larissa Ione
In a place where ecstasy can cost you your life . . . She's a demon-slayer who hungers for sensual pleasure-but fears it will always be denied her. Until Tayla Mancuso lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor, Eidolon, makes her body burn with unslakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her life. Two lovers will dare to risk all. Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his avowed enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his quest to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable-and let Tayla possess him, body and soul . . .

Great book, I really enjoyed it. Interesting storyline, very passionate, kept me interested and reading until I finished. I think my biggest issue and it was not that big a deal was his name. One, I have no idea how to pronounce it and that always drives me crazy. Two, it seems to be one of those names that i cannot picture the heroine yelling for when she is in trouble or

Dragon Wytch (Sisters of the Moon, Book 4)
Dragon Wytch (Sisters of the Moon Book 4) by Yasmine Galenorn
The D’Artigo sisters are half-human, half-Fae operatives for the Otherworld Intelligence Agency. Camille is doing her best to juggle magic, men, and the demonic war into which they’ve been thrust—until she discovers a secret that could change all their lives.

Good addition to the series. If you have not read these, you have to read them in order because the storyline builds and continues with each one. I know a few people who do not like them because they are in first person. Each book is from the perspective of a different sister and at first that threw me off between the first and second books but now I am used to it. The books in order are Witchling, Changeling and Darkling. Though Camille is a very interesting character, she does have a lot of men in her life. The books are warm in nature, closed door with some vague glimpses within. There is some romance but that is not the focus of the books.

Warrior and Dr. Horrible

7/17/2008 02:25:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (4)

If you have not seen Dr. Horrible yet, you have to check it out. The full title is Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog. There are three acts each about 15 minutes long. And (Zeek with love this) it was created by Joss Whedon. It will only stay online until Sunday then you have to buy it from i-tunes. The third act will be released on Saturday. It is a mini-musical with Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day. It is awesome, check it out!!
I also wanted to say that Emily and I are doing fine. I appreciate all of you thoughts and prayers for us. Hubby and I are enjoying our time with her before our other two come home on Saturday.

Warrior: The Time...
Warrior (Time Hunters Book 1) by Angela Knight
In the 24th century, anyone can leap through time at will. To police the time jumpers, the Temporal Enforcement Agency has established a precinct in time. Galar Arvid is a genetically altered warlord and agent who’s been sent back to 2008 to save a pretty Atlanta artist from a Xeran time traveler who intends to kill her for profit. What Galar doesn’t count on is the powerful desire Jessica Kelly ignites in him. But could a romance between them work? A three-hundred-year chasm separates them and, even if they dart through time, there’s still a maniacal killer on their tails.

The characters in this story are interesting. It takes place in the same world as Jane's Warlord and the story "Warfem" (from the Kick @$$ anthology; both stories can also be found released together in the book Warlord). The hero from this book is actually the son of Baird and Alina from "Warfem". Jane and Baran's daughter Riane is in this book, but this is not her story.
I liked it, but I also liked Jane's Warlord and many others did not. Very hot, and fast paced storyline.

Update: According to Angela Knight's blog, the second book is not going to be Enforcer (Dona and Alerio's story) like it says in the back of the book. That one is going to be the third book. The second book she is still writing and will be called Guardian, it will be Riane and Nick's story (we have not met Nick yet). Also she says that the series was originally supposed to be five books but she has changed to to three.

Superb and Sexy

7/14/2008 06:04:00 AM / Posted by Kris / comments (11)

Well, I am finally home. Thank you very much for your prayers and thoughts. They have been much appreciated. Emily is doing great. My parents have taken the other two for the week so we could get re-adjusted to having a baby in the house. And she cleaned my house while I was at the hospital, Go Mom!! Hubby is constantly updating the site he posted about last post if you want to see more pics. She is doing great, I am sore and swollen. Very swollen. I decided to try and nurse her and she actually took to it pretty well (my other two wanted nothing to do with it) but I am struggling as to if it is worth it, it hurts so bad. Okay I will stop whining now. Hopefully the pain meds will help with that as well as my incision pain. I will be around and reading lots but don't know how much I will be posting. Thank you again for your support. I love you guys.

Superb and Sexy (Sky High Air, Book 3)
Superb and Sexy (Sky High Air Book 3) by Jill Shalvis
Despite his brooding bad-boy attitude, Brody knows life has treated him pretty well. His luxury charter airline, Sky High, has given him financial security and the means to take to the skies whenever things on the ground get complicated. And lately, things have become very complicated, thanks to the insanely passionate, or perhaps just insane, kiss he shared with Sky High's gorgeous, wisecracking concierge, Maddie. He's tried to keep his distance, but now Maddie desperately needs help, and it's triggering protective alpha-male urges Brody didn't even know he had.

For months, Maddie hid her crush on sexy, exasperating Brody behind a cool, kick-ass exterior and then blew that to smithereens by jumping him in the lobby. Yeah, real smooth. She's tried to break her ties with Sky High, but Brody won't let her walk away-especially now that he knows that Maddie and her twin sister Leena are in big-time trouble. To save Leena, Maddie and Brody must pose as husband and wife, and Maddie is amazed that the man she thought was oblivious to her existence knows her very well indeed. But that's nothing compared to the way she's about to get to know him-intimately, in depth, and over and over again.

I love Jill's books, they are always so much fun. For me they are a guaranteed light and fun contemporary. This was no exception. I have been looking forward to this book for a long time. You meet this couple in the first book and watch them as they fight all through it and the second book. Great stuff. So this one has been much looked forward to. I very much enjoyed it. If you like her books don't miss this series.

Frostbite and baby stuff

7/10/2008 12:26:00 AM / Posted by Kris / comments (7)

Well, today is the day. I am nervous and excited and stressed. You would think I would not be nervous, I have done this twice already, but I am nervous. Please keep me in your prayers. This is our last child, I am done. I am now thirty and I cannot do pregnancy again. My mom will have to wait for my sister to get married before she is going to get her grandson. She had two girls and I have three girls, so she wants a boy to buy boy things for (not that she does not love my girls and spoil them too). But it will not be mine. That is okay. I fear my life 10 years from now with a 10 year old, a 13 year old and a 16 year old. My house will be a war zone. Hubby says about that time he is buying a shotgun and hunting cabin to get away.
The baby's room is not quite done yet, but she will be in our room for a few weeks so we hope to finish painting it in the next couple weeks. I might be a little more sporadic over the next few weeks because of sleep deprivation or I might be on more often because it will be easier to sit and type than stand and do other things. We will see. I am so not looking forward to being up every hour or two. But there is an end in sight. So I will enjoy my time with her while she is this age.
I will post pics soon (or have Hubby post them). Have a great week everyone.

Update
: I have a guest review at Book Binge on a short story from Lyrical Press called Jessie's Dirty Little Secret.

Frostbite (Vampire Academy, Book 2)Frostbite (Vampire Academy Book 2) by Rachelle Mead
Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose… It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians— including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks. This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory. But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price…

This is the second book in her Vampire Academy series the first is Vampire Academy. I liked this one more than the first one. I found it easier to follow. The storyline flowed better to me and the friction between Dimitri and Rose was better. If you read the first one and thought it okay, try this one before you give up on it. Good book and good sequel.

Windswept

7/07/2008 01:07:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (5)

Well, I've got three days left till the baby!! Our house is currently in a shambles because Hubby decided that he needed to organize the garage before the baby comes. So my entire garage is in my house while he builds shelves in the garage in his spare time. Hopefully he finishes today. But on a brighter note with that it has meant that I have not had to cook for a few days and we had to eat out because I could not get in my kitchen. I have rearranged some things and thrown out alot so I can finally get in my kitchen today. But wish me luck with the rest. I hope to post again before Thursday but if I do not I will post pics of the baby as soon as I can. Have a great week.

WindsweptWindswept by Ann Macela

A terrible secret lurks in the papers of the Windswept Plantation, and its revelation will ruin the Jamison family name. To Barrett Browning, however, the collection of correspondence, ledgers, and journals is a treasure trove of potential publications sure to gain her a valuable promotion at her university. As a historian, her job is to root out secrets from the past and hold them up to the light, no matter the cost. The farthest thing from her mind is getting involved with the papers' owner. To venture capitalist Davis Jamison, the pile of boxes is a headache he must deal with to protect the family. What better way to solve the mystery than to have an expert inventory the papers in his own house? He expects neither his cousin's frantic obsession to keep all the family sins hidden, nor the fierce need he comes to feel for Barrett. He's sworn never again to trust a woman with his property or his heart. Can he rely on Barrett to guard them both? As the dark past—a tale of deception and murder—emerges, Davis's question becomes harder and harder to answer.

I had put this off for a long time because I was not in the mood for a fantasy. But never judge a book by its cover. This is a contemporary book. Windswept is the name of a plantation in Louisiana and the heroine is hired to organize all the papers about it and in return can us the information to write articles and or books about the contents. Interspersed in the story is entries from the journal of the original mistress of Windswept.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The only thing that annoyed me was the aunt and cousin freaking out about family secrets. I could care less except interest about what happened in my family 150 years ago. So that is something that I did not understand. The author reminds us toward the end that the aunt was raised in a different generation where they were very particular about skeletons in your family closet. And they are and influential family and their status is very important to them.
I thought this book was well written and the characters were intriguing. The romance between Davis and Barrett was fun to watch. Yes, she does have a strange name but it is because her parents named her Elizabeth Barrett Browning (after the author) so she goes by her middle name of Barrett.

Sea Swept: The Chesapeake Bay Saga #1 (Chesapeake Bay)Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay Book 1) by Nora Roberts
Sea Swept tells the tale of three brothers--all former juvenile delinquents adopted by Raymond Quinn and his wife, Stella. Cameron, Ethan, and Philip are as different as can be, but they are bound by their love and respect for their adoptive father, who has recently passed away. On his deathbed he asks his sons to look after their most recent brother, 10-year-old Seth, who--if the rumors are to believed--just may be Ray's biological son. Of course, the brothers don't know anything about caring for the young boy, and if social worker Anna Spinelli has anything to say about it, they won't. However, the sparks that fly over the fate of Seth are nothing compared to the romantic sparks that fly between Anna and Cameron.

I really enjoyed this one, nath suggested it when I was looking for a Nora Roberts book to read. I enjoyed it much more than the others that i have read by her. Which are very limited except for her JD Robb books, I LOVE those. There are 4 books in this series the ext one is Rising Tides and i have it on request at the library. I lucked out with this one. I was at the library and spotted it on their for sale table so I bought it for 50 cents. The characters in this were believable and fun to watch.

Doing It Right
Doing it Right by MaryJanice Davidson
Thief Of Hearts

There’s never a dull night in the ER for Dr. Jared Dean, especially when he sees the woman of his fantasies beating the crud out of the city’s biggest, toughest mobster. It’s enough to get a guy all hot and bothered. Not that it matters when SuperHotButtKickingChick gets away without giving her name. The name’s Kara, aka The Avenging Angel, sort of a Robin Hood with better shoes. But now her latest revenge stunt has just landed the gorgeous doc on a mobster’s hit list. There’s only one thing to do: guard Dr. Jared’s extremely fine bod until she can figure a way out of this mess for both of them. Jared’s only too happy to accommodate. Anything to have her close at hand…and in his bed. As for her closed heart? He’s got a plan for that, too…

Wild Hearts
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Too bad he was trying to steal her car. Kat Wechter has no intention of letting that happen. Not one to ever play it safe, it’s amazing what an irresistible bad boy can drive a woman to do (pun intended). But Chester “Chess” McNamara is not your typical car thief. Seems he’s fueled (ouch) by more complicated motives. And to find out what they are, Kat is more than willing to go along for the ride…(couldn’t resist).

This is two short stories. The second story is about the sister of a character you meet in the first story. Kara also makes an appearance in the second story. These were okay but I think that i just am not a big fan of her writing style. I liked her Wyndham werewolf books but that is pretty much it for me loving any of her stories.

Blue Smoke and Murder
Blue Smoke and Murder by Elizabeth Lowell

Jill Breck was just doing her job as a river guide when she saved the life of Lane Faroe, son of two of St. Kilda's Consulting's premier operators. But when a string of ominous events—including a mysterious fire that kills her great aunt and a furor in the Western art world raised by a dozen Breck family paintings—culminate in a threat to her life, Jill reluctantly calls in a favor.

Zach Balfour works part-time as a consultant for St. Kilda. His expertise is gathering and analyzing information from unlikely and often dangerous sources. Though he's got the skills to be a highly effective bodyguard, being a bullet catcher isn't his preferred way to spend time.

Protecting Jill will take him into familiar territory—among a strange, savagely competitive bunch of collectors who'll do anything to stay at the top. But Jill is in deeper waters than she's ever known; as she soon discovers, the perils of running wild rivers are tame compared to the hidden dangers in the high-stakes game of art collecting.

From the cozy rooms of the Breck homestead cabin to the cold multi-million dollar galleries of the Western art circuit, Zach and Jill must race against time to unmask a ruthless killer hidden in a blue smoke of money, threats, lies, and death . . .

This was a good EL book. It returns to the art world which I love her books that are in the art and jewelry worlds. There were some nice twists and turns in this one that kept me interested. I enjoyed it but am not sure if I would buy it.

Sins of the PastSins of the Past by Samantha Gentry
Danger and intrigue collide with passion as wealthy businessman Cameron Pierce deals with the latest in a succession of threats. Now he fears his new assistant may become a target in this bizarre cat and mouse game. Can he keep his feelings under wraps to protect her or will he discover that Shelby isn't who he thought she was?

A friend gave me this one and it was good. There were some nice twists, and very nice romance with pretty good suspense. I enjoyed it.

Baddest Bad Boys
Baddest Bad Boys by Shannon McKenna, EC Sheedy and Cate Noble
ANYTIME, ANYWHERE (by Shannon McKenna) For years, Robin MacNamara has been secretly in love with her big brother’s friend Jon Amendola, but the sexy cop has never seen her as anything but a kid. Until Robin follows him to an isolated cabin to prove she’s all grown up. Unfortunately, Jon’s last case isn’t quite closed—and someone wants payback…
AFTER THE LOVIN’ (
by E.C. Sheedy) In need of a place to hide, Tommi Smith finds herself on the doorstep of a high school classmate’s remote fishing lodge. Though Mac Fleming never trusted this knockout’s reputation for breaking hearts, nothing’s going to stop him from seducing her into his bed now. Until Tommi’s past comes back to haunt them…
DEAL WITH THE DEVIL (
by Cate Noble) All Ellie McMann DeLuca wants is one night with the only man she’s ever truly loved—Max DeLuca, dubbed the Devil by the Italian paparazzi. Max agrees on one condition: they extend it to seven nights of sensual pleasure on a private island. But after a whole week of fulfilling each other’s deepest desires, how will they go back to the way things were?

Good anthology. My fav was the McKenna story. I am a sucker for the brother's best friend stories. The other two were pretty good but that one was my favorite.

Wilde for Him
Wild For Him by Janelle Denison
Ex-marine and security agent Ben Cabrera isn’t about to complain about his latest assignment protecting the daughter of a gubernatorial candidate. After all, spending 24/7 with Christy Delacroix isn’t exactly a chore. But it turns out that Christy’s seduction tactics are top-notch—and soon it’s impossible to keep things strictly professional.

Well we finished with the Wilde family and are now continuing onto the people they work with. This can be read separately or in the series after Born to be Wilde. If you like the rest of the series you will enjoy this one as well. If you have not read the rest you would not miss much, but you do see the other Wildes from the previous books. All of her books are nice and HOt and this one is no exception, always good reading from her IMO.

Through the Veil (Berkley Sensation)Through the Veil by Shiloh Walker

Found wandering in a field as a child, Lee Ross was given a name by the state and placed in a foster home–without anyone realizing she wasn’t entirely human. All her life, she’s tried to dismiss the odd dreams that have plagued her, dreams of monsters creeping through the night and a man, fighting demons by her side. But the bruises she wakes up with are all too real to ignore. Then the man from dreams appears in the flesh. His name is Kalen and he insists that her destiny lies in his world, the world of her dreams. To save their people, he must convince Lee to give everything she knows, follow her heart and cross into the Under Realm, even though once she does, she’ll never be able to return.

I enjoyed this one but it was a little hard to get into. I want to re-read it later to see if I like it more. It is an interesting world. I would classify this one more as fantasy/sci-fi romance than paranormal romance because it is an alternate world.

Nightkeepers (Novels of the Final Prophecy, Book 1)
Nightkeepers (Novels of the Final Prophesy Book 1) by Jessica Andersen
As a Miami narcotics detective, Leah Daniels never knows how her day will turn out. But she certainly never expected to be strapped to a stone altar, the human sacrifice in an ancient Mayan ritual meant to coax up a demon from the underworld. Or that she’d be saved by a handsome warrior-priest king who claims to recognize her from his visions... Jaguar Strike wishes he hadn’t made the mistake of reuniting his fellow warrior priests, or broken the law by saving their chosen human sacrifice. Now, he has no choice but to join forces with Leah and invoke dangerous magic in a death-defying race against the end of time.

I really liked this one. It was a good paced read, with good romance. I am anxious fro the next book just because there were so many other things going on in the background between the other characters that you never got to see and that was frustrating. It is a very interesting concept. I recommend this book if you have not read it yet.

Walk on the Wild Side (The Others, Book 5)Walk on the Wild Side (The Others Book 5) by Christine Warren

Kitty Sugarman is a lot tougher than her name implies. Still, she’s content with how her small- town life keeps her removed from all the changes happening in the world—like the Unveiling of the Others. That is, until a near-tragedy strikes and Kitty discovers she has abilities . . .thanks to a father she never knew was alive. He also happens to be a were-lion and leader of one of the most powerful Prides out West.
WALK ON THE WILD SIDE
When Kitty heads to Vegas to find out more about her father, it’s his sexy, seductive second-in-command or baas of the Pride, Marcus Stewart, who commands her attention. Now that she has tempted Marcus’s hunger for a mate, Kitty finds herself stuck in a vicious struggle for her father’s fortune, while deadly unrest stirs within the pride. Kitty’s rivals won’t rest until she’s gone for good, but Marcus will fight until his last breath to save her…even if it means going against the pride.

This one was pretty good but not my fav of the series. It occurs about one year after the Unveiling. To me it reads almost like an anthology story or a novella. Or maybe it just seemed to go by really quickly. This story though takes place sort of out of the storyline of the rest of the series. So if this one is read out of order it does not make a big difference.

The Agency 3: Monkeying Around (e-book from Changeling Press) by Michelle Hasker
Posing as lovers shouldn’t be too hard. Not for Jessica and Chase. Fooling around during their training mission had landed them in this mess when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Now they need to redeem themselves by gaining the trust of one of the country’s greatest criminals. But with Erik Hardaway’s suspicion of Jessica and Chase’s relationship, his questions about their reasons for visiting his mansion, and Erik’s obvious desire for Jessica, getting out of this situation alive and unscathed will be their biggest challenge ever.

This was an e-book that I won. It is very short, so I guess it is actually an e-novella or quickie (don't know the actual word count difference). This is part of a series that has to do with this Agency that they all work for. She is a shape-shifter (turns into a monkey, that was different, had not read one of those before). But her boss is the only one who knows about her ability.

Real Vampires Have Curves (Glory St. Claire, Book 1)
Real Vampires have Curves (Glory St. Claire Book 1) by Gerry Bartlett
What-did you think all vamps were pale, thin and brooding? Don't I wish. Gloriana St. Clair is an eternally "full-figured" vampire-she just happened to be bloating when a sexy Scotsman sank his teeth into her. She and said Scot-Angus Jeremiah Campbell III, aka Jeremy Blade-have been on and off again for centuries, currently off. A couple hundred years has taught them how to press each other's buttons-in good ways and bad. Glory's headed for Austin and a new business venture: Vintage Vamp's Emporium. After all, she loves clothes, and she is an antique. Only problem is, there's a billionaire techno-freak vampire hunter on the loose. Blade's in total he-vampire mode, and wants Glory to move in with him so he can "protect" her. But it's time for this vamp to explore her own powers.

This was a fun chick lit vampire book. Watching the relationship between Glory and Jerry was fun. He is trying to take care of a woman who does not want to be taken care of. But when you are dealing with a highlander who is a millenia old, he is kind of set in his ways. Fun book. The htird on just came out not too long ago. This is the first book, the second is Real Vampires Live Large and the third is Real Vampires Get Lucky.
