Satisfaction Guaranteed by Charlene Teglia
Welcome to The Capture Agency, a fantasy dating service for dominant men who know what they like and how they like it, and women who can handle limitless pleasure. After being matched with a partner, the male will capture his date and make her a slave to passion. This service is for couples who aren’t afraid to push the limits, let go of their inhibitions and lose themselves in the fantasy.
Clients include Chase Hunter, the agency’s owner, who decides to break his cardinal rule against dating clients and capture a woman for the first time (Rachel Law). Kane Woods, a man of superior size and strength who’s always had to reign in his desires--until now (Sabrina). And Gage Michaels, who learns that his ex is using the service…and decides to capture her (Emma Michaels). Will these couples enjoy a hot romp between the sheets, or will they capture each other’s hearts?

This was a one author anthology and it was fun. The stories were short but very HOT. Each woman has their own issues, reasons and desires for their wish to use the agency. Rachel thinks she is too stuffy and has high standards, but I cannot blame her, she has a high IQ and has a hard time finding a guy that she can talk intelligently with. Chase fits the bill. I enjoyed this story a lot. They both know what they want and are willing to go after it and not compromise.
Sabrina's story was probably my least fav of the three, it did not flow well for me. I think I was expecting more role play as her fantasy was to be captured by a pirate. He was willing to play along but she did not. So that threw me off. Kane was very cute, I love big sweet guys that are so conscious of their strength.
I was unsure about Emma's story because she is married and go to the agency as revenge against a cheating husband. I am very much against cheating so was very wary. Turns out she ends up being captured by her hubby. He was not cheating on her, just was working too much and had a B**** for a assistant. So I really enjoyed this one, I love reading stories about a couple regenerating their marriage and falling in love again.
Great book, if you like anthologies, this was a good one.

Hot and BotheredHot and Bothered by Diane Castell

Savannah, Georgia: city of history, mystery, and more than a few ghosts, as well as four best friends who have never fit in anywhere except with each other. But everything is about to change as an unsolved murder from decades ago draws them close-and closer still-to four sexy bachelors with secrets of their own...

SAVANNAH WHEN IT SIZZLES
In the "new" old south, pedigree and money still mean plenty...especially when you have neither. P.I. Charlotte de Shawn and her friends Prissy, BrieAnna, and Bebe know all too well what it's like to be on the outside looking in, having grown up with more questions than answers about the parents they each lost at an early age. For Charlotte, enduring condescending looks and whispers only made her more determined to ignore social standing. So why should it be a problem when wealthy hotel owner Griff Parish wants to hire her to find the missing heir to his family fortune? Just because their chemistry is hotter than Georgia in August doesn't mean she can't be a pro about this. After all, they travel in completely different circles-or they did until now...
Griff's always had a thing for Charlotte, with her long red hair, big green eyes, and wild streak. Even the hefty chip on her shoulder only reminds him of how strong she is. Still, nothing's ever come of the attraction. Now, however, the temptation Charlotte represents is too close to ignore. True, Griff got himself into this fix. He could have hired a different detective agency-but that wouldn't have served his ends. He has damn good reason to keep Charlotte de Shawn close, and it has nothing to do with her keen mind or her gorgeous body. Yeah, right. Falling hard for Charlotte wasn't part of the plan, but in Savannah, what you expect is just about never what you get...

Another fun book. I like reading books that take place in the South, I can picture it so well. And i love Savannah, I was picturing a lot of the places as I read. There was a lot in this book and it kept me reading. I do not remember any slow parts where i started to get bored. There were some parts where I was wondering where she was going to go with that, but it made me laugh a lot. Though I will say I guessed the ending about a third in to the book. There were some nice secondary couples too and not all were resolved so I am guess that they will be getting their own books/stories.
Great book. I had a hard time putting it down.

A friend emailed this to me and I started crying when I saw this picture.

As I reflect on this photograph, I see once again that not all the brave leave the 'home of the brave' to enter battle; some are required now to be the brave of the home.It is said a picture is worth a thousand words but it leaves me speechless and tears in my eyes.

She robbed him blind out of sheer desperation, and years later, Josie still has something of his...but that's not her only secret. This was a fun book. I really enjoyed One Real Cowboy, so I was excited when this one came out. I enjoyed reading it. I thought that the storyline was good and kept me interested. This is one that I would recommend if you were looking for a light western read.

The River Knows

The River KnowsThe River Knows by Amanda Quick
The first kiss occurred in a dimly lit hallway on the upper floor of Elwin Hastings's grand house. Louisa never saw it coming.... Of course, Anthony Stalbridge couldn't possibly have had romantic intentions. The kiss was an act of desperation meant to distract the armed guard from catching the pair in a place they did not belong. After all, Louisa Bryce, in her dull maroon gown and gold-rimmed spectacles, was no man's idea of an alluring female. The only thing the two interlopers have in common is a passionate interest in the private affairs of Mr. Hastings—a prominent member of Society whom they both suspect of hiding terrible secrets. Now, brought together by their ruse, Anthony and Louisa are united in their efforts to find the truth. Each has a reason for the quest. Anthony's fiancée was said to have thrown herself into the Thames—but Anthony has his own suspicions. Louisa—whose own identity is shrouded in layers of mystery—is convinced that Hastings has a connection to a notorious brothel. When Anthony successfully cracks Hastings's hidden safe—and discovers incriminating evidence—it appears that both their instincts were correct. Yet Hastings is hiding far more than jewels and ledger books. Bringing him to justice will be more perilous than they anticipate—and their partnership will be more heated than either one expects. For it is not only Anthony's curiosity that Louisa arouses, and the two share something else: a thrilling attraction to danger. . . .

This was a nice book. I enjoy her historicals, she adds mystery that i like but i really enjoy her characters. They are not the usual simpering misses. This character is hiding herself because she killed someone, definitely not your typical historical heroine. I like that the hero sees past her dowdy clothes and icy demeanor to find out who she truly is. They both have their own agendas and meet while trying to break into the same man's safe and personal stuff. Makes for a fun story. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have a guest review of And Lady Makes Three anthology by Nikki Soarde, Anya Bast, and Ashley Ladd over at Book Binge, check it out.

Midnight Rising (The Midnight Breed, Book 4) (Midnight Breed)
Midnight Rising (Midnight Breed Book 4) by Lara Adrian
In a world of shadows and dark, consuming hungers, desire is the deadliest weapon... For journalist Dylan Alexander, it began with the discovery of a hidden tomb, thrusting her into the center of a gathering storm of violence and secrets. But nothing is as dangerous as the scarred, lethally seductive man who rises from the shadows to draw her into his world of dark desire and endless night. Fueled by pain and rage over a shattering betrayal, the warrior Rio has pledged his life to the war against the Rogues. He will let nothing stand in his way—least of all a mortal woman with the power to expose the entire vampire race. For an ancient evil has been awakened, and a stunning darkness is on the rise. Suddenly Dylan is powerless to resist Rio’s touch, even as she uncovers a shocking link to her own past. And now she must choose: Leave Rio’s midnight realm, or risk it all for the man who has shown her true passion and the infinite pleasures of the heart. . . .

Great book. I loved getting Rio's story, he had such a bum deal at the beginning of the series. It was good for him to get his HEA. I do not have much to add, this book has been talked about a lot. I am enjoying this series very much. The order for the books are : Kiss of Midnight, Kiss of Crimson, Midnight Awakening and then this one, Midnight Rising.

What Happens in Vegas

What Happens In Vegas...: Hot For You\Stripped\Red-Handed\The DealWhat Happens in Vegas anthology by Jodi Lynn Copeland, Lauren Dane, Anya Bast and Kit Tunstall
Behind closed doors, the real games begin…Winning it big.
That's the name of the game at Las Vegas's Liege Hotel and Casino, where the hottest fantasies hinge on a roll of the dice…and the tantalizing knowledge that anything could happen before sunrise.

Hot For You by Jodi Lynn Copeland- Cocktail waitress Carinna wants a man to tie her up, not tie her down. Little does she know that her most willing partner yet (Jack) has something else planned for this fiery Latina bombshell.

Stripped by Lauren Dane - Dahlia is a burlesque dancer with a brain for business and a bod for sin. Her latest admirer may be a sweet-talking Casanova (Nash), but despite what he thinks she's not giving anything away free.

Red-Handed by Kit Tunstall - Meanwhile, Amy has the perfect plan to rob the Liege Casino blind…until the intimidating owner (Roan) catches her red-handed. Now she knows she's going to pay… with both pleasure and pain.

The Deal by Anya Bast - Professional shill Cassidy is ready to experience a breathless rendezvous with her "friend with benefits." But when he (James) proposes five delicious nights of sexy blackjack, the stakes have never been so high.

I won this book from Lauren Dane and loved it. It was sooo HOT. It is labeled as Erotic stories from Sin City and they were. All the stories were very HOT but still had an HEA. The stories have the common theme of taking place around the same hotel but the characters do not carry over from story to story like you would see in a single author anthology.
I really have nothing bad to say about this book. It was a great combination. The stories had a variety of preferences. There was some light bondage, some exhibitionism, light D/s and some really fun characters. I loved all of it.

How to Dance in the Rain

4/20/2008 10:59:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (2)

My mom sent me this forward and I thought it was so sweet I just had to share it with you.

How to Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?'

He smiled as he patted my hand and said,
'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had
goose bumps on my arm, and thought,

'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

'Life isn't just about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.'

Wild Borders and Tangled Sheets

4/20/2008 09:36:00 PM / Posted by Kris / comments (2)

Wild: Wild BordersWild Borders by Cheyenne McCray
After a bitter divorce, reporter Lani Stanton has erected a border around her heart too strong for any man to cross. She's not ready for a relationship of any kind with any man. But when Lani meets Rick she can think of nothing but being in his powerful arms and in his bed.
Intelligence Agent Rick McAllister is hot on the trail of a notorious smuggler when the sensual blonde reporter comes into his life. Once he gets a hold of Lani, nothing will stop Rick from crossing her borders and winning her heart.
Rick puts his life on the line to track down a murderous smuggler, and he puts his heart on the line to win the woman who belongs in his life forever.

I am realizing that I need to write down my thoughts a lot sooner after i read it. I remember that i liked it but I can no longer remember details. Or maybe that says more about the book, the fact that I cannot remember it. I remember liking how much research went into this book and the details about the Border patrol. I found that interesting. So I will say that this was a nice story but apparently not very memorable.

O'Malley Wild: Tangled SheetsTangled Sheets (O'Malley Wild Books 3 & 4) by Maggie Casper
Hayden's Hellion By Maggie Casper The third in the O'Malley Wild series. A bad relationship with a money-hungry woman has left Hayden O'Malley disillusioned and untrusting. An old-fashioned cowboy used to meek, biddable women, Hayden's legendary patience is tested when he rescues Austin Calhoun. She's been given an ultimatum by the town's judge either get a real job or spend thirty days in jail. Apparently hosting sex-toy parties is NOT a real job. From her seductive clothing to her wicked reputation, Austin is everything Hayden isn't looking for in a woman, but she's the only one he can't get out of his head. Her unruly ways have gotten Austin into her share of trouble. The problem is, it seems as though every time she finds herself knee-deep, Hayden is there to set her straight. Why he thinks he has to do it with her face-down over his lap, Austin will never understand. Tired of being taken lightly, Austin is determined to get Hayden to see her as the woman she has become instead of the wild child she was. With love on her side, Austin's ready to prove she's more than just Hayden's Hellion.
Tying the Knot
By Maggie Casper Book four in the O'Malley Wild series. Those Wild O'Malley boys are at it again. From rough and rugged rancher Hayden, to larger than life pub owner Sean, all the way down to the baby of the family, polished and shined Zane, the only thing these brothers have in common besides wicked hazel eyes and an eagerness to love their women is a wedding. At the culmination of the O'Malley Wild series, join the O'Malley boys on their triple wedding day at the Big O Ranch...and more enjoyably, their individual wedding nights. Nothing is too wild for an O'Malley.

I have not read Books 1 or 2 but these were very HOT and nice enough that I really think I need to go find them. The series is about three brothers and all are into D/s. So you have some very Alpha males here.
The third story (the one that read) is about the oldest brother Hayden. He is very much about appearances and Austin likes her style of dress and is happy with her life/career choices.
One problem that I had that was hard to get over was while he was still in denial of his attraction to her. To dissuade her crush on him he invites another woman over and makes sure that Austin finds them in a compromising position (she was in the process of giving him a bj). It was just such a crappy thing to do to her that I had a very hard time forgiving him. I really enjoyed the heroine's character. She was a lot of fun.
The fourth and final story in the series was actually the wedding of all three brothers. I know I would have liked it even more if I had read the other two books but I still liked it. I got a glimpse of the other brothers and wives and their relationships and what each of them were into. But I could tell there were some things I was missing since I had not read the first two books.

At the Edge

At the EdgeAt the Edge (Psychic Sisters Trilogy Book1) by Cait London SETTING: Rural Montana, near fictional Red Dog, contemporary Think you've finally found the perfect quiet, secluded home without pesky neighbors? It never lasts, take it from Claire Brown, who really, really needs isolation to survive. Claire is an empath, too sensitive to other's emotions--greed, lust, hatred--and physical pain. A night-walker, she's safe amid the dry rolling acres of Montana, stitching her one-of-a-kind designer handbags. Back to the nothing lasts forever part. Neil Olafson moves in next door, and he's setting up shop to build camping trailers, a noisy activity. He's a friendly sort of guy, but then Claire isn't feeling neighborly, her peace and safety torn away. He's also a handy guy, Claire discovers when she is suddenly and unexpectedly attacked. Now, Neil is just an average workman, and what he is about to discover about the psychic triplets sets his hair on end. First of all, Claire can anticipate this thoughts and feelings, which makes him uneasy. Claire's mother does not call--because her anxiety is going to trip Claire's. Tempest, a hands-on psychic, who can tell the history of an object by holding it, is scary enough, and Leona, the oldest, apparently is a clairvoyant who dreams events before they happen! All this doesn't interfere with Neil's sturdy attraction to his mysterious red-haired, green-eyed neighbor. But it's a little unnerving to desire a woman, when she actually knows what a man is feeling. When the sisters track down Claire's attacker on just "reading" the remnants of his touch, Neil starts to believe--a little. And just maybe she might be able to help him find his son, who disappeared eight years ago. Claire's sixth sense is prowling, snagging clues that someone doesn't want revealed. When Neil starts having accidents, the game gets deadly and they're plunged into a nightmarish web of hidden secrets that they must unravel--together.

I have had this book in my tbr pile for a while. I bought it because of the cover and because I love psychic characters. I had not read any other books by her prior to this one. I was kind of intrigued by it. I was not totally sold on it but I am curious where she is planning on going with it so I will read the next book, but I am not sure what to expect. I am hoping it will get better. I was not able to totally get into the characters, I was always on the outside looking in but never really in the story.
One of the reasons I got it was the cover, I love covers. But I thought this one was a little misleading. The cover is very hot but the book is not. There is a love story but everything is pretty much closed door. This is not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting. This trilogy if you are going to read it definitely needs to be read in order There is a psychic bad guy that I am guessing they are going to be fighting the entire trilogy.
The next book, A Stranger's Touch, comes out this month.

Take Me If You Can

Take Me If You Can (Signet Eclipse)Take Me If You Can (Take Me series Book 1) by Karen Kendall

For art recovery agent Avy Hunt, no task is too risky when it comes to rescuing stolen treasures. Her latest mission is to locate the multi-million dollar Sword of Alexander, believed to be in the possession of master thief Sir Liam James. But there is far more to this heist than meets the eye, and what Avy doesn’t know can definitely hurt her. In hot pursuit of the sword, Avy crosses the Atlantic to keep charming, sexy Liam under surveillance—only to find that he has been trailing her. It’s hard to focus on the prize when they’re both overwhelmed by sexual tension. Now Avy is going to have to make the toughest choice of her career: Get her hands on the sword, or take her chances with a thief.

This was a fun action contemporary. I would not say it was awesome but it was fun. The characters were a lot of fun to follow. I loved their banter, and it was not excessive (see this post). When I read the back I immediately was picturing the movie The Thomas Crown Affair. But this one was hotter and more of a combination of Entrapment and the Thomas Crown Affair. And it had some similar elements so if you enjoyed those movies you will probably like this book. I believe this is a first in a trilogy. Avy's co-worker/intern (Gwen) is the heroine for the next book.

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments)City of Bones (Mortal Instruments Book 1) by Cassandra Clare

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Clary knows she should call the police, but it's hard to explain a murder when the body disappears into thin air and the murderers are invisible to everyone but Clary. Equally startled by her ability to see them, the murderers explain themselves as Shadowhunters: a secret tribe of warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. Within twenty-four hours, Clary's mother disappears and Clary herself is almost killed by a grotesque demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know....

This was an interesting read. It started out slowly but as I got into it, it picked up. I found the plot to be interesting to follow. This is young adult but I would say an older teen or one who is a very good reader due to certain vocabulary and descriptions. I was thinking as I read this that I never spoke like that when I was a teen. They were words that would have probably known but not used in casual conversation. As an adult I enjoyed it, but as a teen I do not know if I could follow all of it.
I am awaiting the next book from the library, City of Ashes, it was just released last week.

I have a guest review over at Breezing Through about Strike Zone by Kate Angell, check it out. Also in other cool news, I found out that the RT convention next year is in Orlando, YEAH, hometown advantage!!!

The Sorcerer King: Book Three of The Faerie PathThe Sorcerer King (Book 3 of the Faerie Path) by Frewin Jones

Tania has brought the long-lost Queen Titania back to Faerie from the Mortal World of modern London. But when they cross between the worlds, they find only devastation. The Sorcerer King of Lyonesse—ancient enemy of the Faerie Court—has been released from his amber prison. As the wicked sorcerer regains his power, King Oberon, Tania's father, is imprisoned and the Faerie Court is being destroyed. Tania and her true love, Edric, must travel the Realm to try to find and rescue King Oberon, who is their only hope for defeating the evil Sorcerer King. And Tania must prepare for battle . . . and to fight a war that she may not survive.

This was a fun trilogy to read. There was romance, fighting, monsters, magic what more could you want. (I feel like I am intro-ing The Princess Bride.) I suppose there could be another book but I think this ended it well. The first two books are The Faerie Path and The Lost Queen. They must be read in order. There is nothing real deep about this series, but it is a fun YA fantasy with some romance in it. I enjoyed them all.

Howling at the Moon

Howling at the Moon (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 1)Howling at the Moon (Tales of an Urban Werewolf book 1) by Karen Macinerney
Sophie Garou seems to have it all: a great job at a prestigious accounting firm, a closet that rivals a Nordstrom showroom, and a terrific boyfriend who isn’t afraid to use the “M” word. There’s just one little itty-bitty problem: Sophie is a werewolf–and her time of month has a whole new meaning. Needless to say, life among yummy flesh-and-blood humans is no piece of steak . . . er, cake!, but regular doses of wolfsbane tea and a mother who runs a magic shop have helped Sophie keep her paranormal pedigree under wraps. Still, when a sexy, golden-eyed werewolf prowls into town, Sophie finds herself struggling to keep her animal impulses in check–not to mention trying to keep things on track with her super hot (and super human) lawyer boyfriend. What’s more, someone is threatening to expose Sophie for what she really is. And when her mother is accused of selling a poison-laced potion, Sophie must sniff out a culprit before the fur hits the fan.

This is the first in a new trilogy. It was okay. It is urban paranormal with some romance down the line. You have met the hero but they have not totally gotten together yet. Problem being is that she (Sophie) has a human boyfriend (a really nice one too) that she wants to keep because she wants to be human. So she is in denial of her werewolf side. She meets hot sexy werewolf boy and is very attracted to him but will not drop everything for him. (See above where she has a boyfriend and wants nothing to do with the werewolf world.) She spend most of the book trying to avoid her werewolf side and that culture entirely which is difficult when your mother is a psychic and trying to matchmake you with every wolf she sees. She must stoop to Breaking and entering and finding out about hoodoo while trying to free her rather flighty mother from jail.
I will probably read the next book, but I will get it from the library first.

At Her Service

At Her ServiceAt Her Service by Susan Johnson

Hugh D'Abernon, Marquis of Darley, was in Sevastopol for one reason only: to reconnoiter the town for the British Secret Service. So if he encounters a woman of unparalleled beauty in need of his help, he will do his duty and smartly escort her back to town--then continue on his way. He will not consider being diverted from the task at hand. No matter how tempting the lady... Aurore Clement was unaccustomed to being so susceptible to a man's good looks. From afar, it was simple enough to be prudent, but in close proximity to this handsome Tatar, it was quite a different matter. She would have to keep her distance and focus on more important concerns--like her work with the French command and caring for her wounded brother, a soldier with French forces. But Hugh and Aurore both have reasons for wanting to escape the reality of this fearsome war. And when the two meet again, there is no stopping the fierce passion that ignites between them...

Have you ever had those authors that you said you would not read again but inevitably you pick up their next book? This is one of mine. I have read most of her books and every time I remember that I was not crazy about the last one because it is the same characters in a different setting. I finished it but I was bored. I think part of it for me is her style of love scenes. I like banter as much as the next girl, but hers have so much I am trying to figure out how into it these people are that they can get out these complete thoughts and vocabulary while having sex. Okay, am done now. If you have not read one, I would recommend this one, it was good but once you have read one, you have read most of hers.

Really enjoyed this one. It had an pretty interesting storyline and was very HOT. There is a lot of sex in this one, very HOT. The story behind Bloodmates is that once a vampire drinks from his mate then he/she has to drink from them to survive from that point on. He does not realize this until he loses her.

Betrayed (House of Night, Book 2)
Betrayed (House of Night Book 2) by PC and Kristin Cast
Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend...or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

The plot thickens in this one. I am so enjoying this series (the first book is Marked). The latest book is out (Chosen) and I am waiting for it from the library. (No money to buy right now.) Apparently the people who currently have it read very slowly. It is driving me crazy, I am very impatient and a fast reader. I finished this one in a 24 hour period. So I want the next one NOW, okay I will stop whining. In this book her old life and new life collide in people that she knew are getting killed and she meets up with Heath again. She learns some interesting things about Aphrodite and there are some major plot twists. If you have not read these and are interested in them, they must be read in order.
I am on a young adult book kick or something. I have another one to review about and I just ordered another YA book, that I have heard good things about. There are just some really good paranormal YA books out there now.
