This is a great fantasy saga trilogy. It is the story of Phedre from childhood to adulthood raised as a courtesean and spy and the different quests she went on in the name of love and knowledge. Phedre was born an anguisette which is the chosen of one of their gods, Kushiel. It means that she can with stand a lot more pain than most people and enjoy it. There has not been an anguisette born for 300 years. The people of Terre d'Ange don't quite no what to do with her. The world that Ms Carey has created is a parallel world to ours based on a man name Elua who was born of the blood of Jesus (called Yeshua) and Mother Earth. The One God created Terre d'Ange for Elua and his followers. The books, I think in the romance world, would appeal to the readers of Bertrice Small's epic fantasies.

The first book is her childhood, her time with Anafiel Delaunay, her mentor, and her and Joscelin's time in Skaldia.
The second book is about Phedre's quest to find and apprehend Melisande in La Serenissima.
The third books takes place ten years later and is her quest to save Hyacinthe.
